A Little History

Scott is the son of Christopher (Corsair) and Katherine Summers. He is an original member of the X-Men and is actually the first to be recruited by Professor Charles Xavier.

While riding in their private plane, Scott, Christopher, Katherine, and his brother, Alex was attacked by a Shi’ar Starship. So that her children would not be harmed, Katherine put a backpack containing a parachute around Scott, attached his brother Alex to it, and tossed them both out of the plane.

The two of them crash-landed on the ground leaving Scott in a year-long coma. This is the reason that Scott cannot control his power and must wear a special set of glasses.

Shortly thereafter, Scott and Alex were separated and placed in separate orphanages. They wouldn’t reconnect for years and in truth, Scott wasn’t able to remember that he even had a brother.

Like most mutants, Scott’s powers emerged in his teenage years when he unintentionally shot a crane high above a building. As a result of the blast, the crane dropped what it was carrying and Scott quickly shot another blast to destroy the falling debris.

Seeing what he had done, Cyclops ran away and ended up in a partnership with a ruthless criminal named Living Diamond. Luckily, Professor X heard about and rescued him, thus making Scott, as mentioned, the very first recruit to the X-Men.
