A Little History
Now, I don’t want to say that Elektra grew up in a privileged life, but let’s be honest, she was born to a Greek Ambassador…and this was long before Greece was in the turmoil it is now.
Privileged life = Privileged student.
Not to state the obvious, but she quickly realized that dear Matt was blind. Matt would let her know that he developed superhuman senses to compensate for this blindness. In fact, he was able to ‘see’ due to his developments.
Elektra at this time was a good person and because she felt sorry for him she fell in love with him. Maybe that isn’t exactly how it happened, but they did fall in love.
Fast forward one year, and Elektra and her Greek Ambassador Father would be held captive in a building on campus. She, along with Matt were able to easily defeat the captors and Elektra and her father walked away unscathed, or so they thought.
It was at this point that one of New York’s finest mistook her father for one of the captors and shot him…shot him dead. Shattered in every which way, Elektra ran away from America, never to be seen again, the end.
Again, not true, but she did leave America.
She wound up showing up in Japan where she trained with a sensei. Eventually, she would up leave the sensei and catch on with an organization headed by a guy named Stick…again…if you have read the Daredevil post, you will know that this is not the band, but rather the guy.
Not too bad actually…let’s recap
- Leave America
- Turn into a master martial artist
- Joins a secret organization
She seemed to be doing pretty good for herself; that is until Stick gave her the boot. He asked her to leave because of her pain filled soul over her father’s death.
If you were thrown out by a secret organization, where would you end up?
Elektra ended up going back to her previous sensei.
Much like a scorned lover, Elektra wanted to show Stick his mistake, so she infiltrated a group of ninja’s (yes, ninja’s, this is the comics) in order to stop their activities. You see, the ninja’s (also called The Hand) were a group who used fear to dominate their foes and obviously she had a problem with this…
But like the flip of a coin, The Hand instead tricked her into killing her sensei.
Elektra would spend the next number of years as a bounty hunter. While in this new lifestyle, she would cross paths with Daredevil, who she would learn was Matt. Naturally, he opposed her career choice, but still fought alongside her at times.
To make matters much worse, she was hired by the king of crime, the Kingpin to be his chief assassin. In this career move, she was ordered to fight Daredevil time and time again. She even took a job that would see her attempt to assassinate Matt’s best friend, Foggy. Foggy would recognize her making her unable to go through with it; Bullseye (another assassin/bad guy) saw his opportunity. He leaped into battle, killing Elektra and becoming Kingpin’s number 1.
And that is where her story ends…
By now, you must know that death in comics is much like a bad joke that continually gets retold.
Elektra would return to action when she was resurrected by a member of Stick’s organization known as Stone…yes…Stone.
If you have been paying attention, you will have noticed that we have a Stick and a Stone. Sticks and stones may break my bones?
Eventually, she would seize control of the Hand and that is where we are at today.
