“Two Episodes of Nothing Happening, But at Least We Have Pronouns”: Fans Don’t Think Acolyte’s Episode 4 Has Redeemed the Show

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ dropped its fourth episode, and the pacing doesn’t seem to improve all that much. Episode 3 was highly controversial due to several reasons first and foremost due to the introduction of Witches of Brendok, a coven of force-users who apparently managed to conceive a child via the use of force.

Now in episode 4, we see Mae landing on the heavily forested planet of Khofar searching for Jedi Master Kelnacca who is her next target to gain favor with her Sith Master. At the same time, the Jedi on Coruscant are forming their own search party, to look for both Kelnacca and Mae.

Proceed cautiously if you still haven’t watched this week’s episode since the rest of the article is filled with spoilers.

Nothing really happens for the majority of the episode, Mae is having cold feet regarding killing Kelnacca without a weapon and eventually ditches Qimir. I really hope that he is not the Sith in question since it would be the worst-kept “secret” in Star Wars forever. Simultaneously the Jedi are slowly figuring out that there is a dark presence around them on the planet, and that’s pretty much it, 35+ minutes of walking around Khofar. The episode naturally ends on a cliffhanger, with Mae finding Kelnacca’s dead body, Jedi assuming that she was the one that killed him, and Mae’s master finally confronting them in the Jungle, outing his existence.

Now you are aware that this breaks lore in some serious ways, depending on how Episode 5 starts and eventually resolves. Once again the fans are furious. Due to the pacing, the writing the premise, and that the show once again slipped in pronouns with Osha referring to Bazil as “they”

Is He or They, with us?

But what fans most had issues with was the presence of the prequel character Ki-Adi-Mandi, who appears in the show despite his species not having such a long lifespan. Here are just some of the reactions on social media to the latest episode of Acolyte:
