‘Shang-Chi 2’ Reportedly Won’t Revisit One Notable Location
Marvel Studios and Disney have quite a few projects lined up for development and production, despite the recent statements that they will lower the scope and output of their movies & shows due to somewhat undesirable results that their projects have gotten in the last several years. Still, there are quite a few projects that fans are certainly looking forward to and one of them is the sequel to ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings.’
By December 2021, development had started on a sequel to ‘Shang-Chi’ with director and writer Cretton and star Liu expected to return. Liu expressed interest in exploring his character’s journey with the Ten Rings and his place in the MCU. However, by July 2023, Liu was uncertain about the sequel’s production timeline, mentioning it was slated for release after ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ which had been postponed to 2026 from 2025 and changed name in the meantime. He expected that more details would emerge soon.
Recently we’ve covered that ‘Shang-Chi 2’ is expected to begin filming in 2025, and it’s expected that we’re going to get more insights into what the plot of the movie will be about. Now according to notable leaker and scooper MyTimeToShineHello, one notable location from the first movie won’t appear in ‘Shang-Chi 2’ and it’s Ta Lo.
Ta Lo is a dimension within the Multiverse accessible through a portal on Earth, safeguarded by a shifting bamboo maze forest that reveals a safe path annually during the Qingming Festival. Inhabited by humans and various mythical creatures such as Dijiang, Fenghuang, Jiu Wei Hu, Qilin, Shishi, and the Great Protector. The first time Ta Lo debuted in the MCU was in ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings’ followed by the recently released ‘What If….?’ Season 3 Episode called ‘What If…Hela Found the Ten Rings.’
It makes sense for the realm not to be included in the movie since everything we know so far points in the direction of the movie being focused on time travel, featuring notable characters like Iron Fist.
