Sony’s Spider-Man Universe is not off to a good start this year, as the cinematic universe opened 2024 with a majestic flop ‘Madame Web.’ Luckily there are ample opportunities to turn this around since there are two notable releases awaiting us this year, ‘Kraven the Hunter,’ and the final installment of the ‘Venom’ franchise.

Yes, you’ve read that correctly, ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is the final ‘Venom’ movie in the SSU, with some speculations pointing in the direction that the character could be included in the MCU going forward, but as I’ve said those are just rumors. Due to the general mystery of the movie we decided to summarize everything we know about it so far, everything from plot, cast, release date & other tidbits.

The plot of the movie was kept under wraps

Usually, when it comes to comic adaptations there are plenty of leaks and scoops to go around, the community has been more or less silent when it comes to ‘Venom’ franchise, so we generally have no official or unofficial clue regarding the overall plot of the movie.

In the ‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ post-credit scene, Venom exposes Eddie to different universes, leading him to the Tom Holland ‘Spider-Man’ universe. However, in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’s’ post-credits, Eddie is returned to his own universe, leaving behind a piece of symbiote goo.

With Chiwetel Ejiofor joining the cast, there’s speculation that he may reprise his MCU role as Mordo. The script, penned by Kelly Marcel, originated from a story concept she and Tom Hardy developed together, so we can’t exactly use the source material as hints.

Little is known about the cast

Naturally, we do know that Tom Hardy will reprise his role as Eddie Brock and Venom, however, most of the other names on the list have unrevealed roles and we can only speculate.

  1. June Temple – undisclosed role, lead character
  2. Chiwetel Ejiofor – undisclosed, possibly reprising his role as Mordo
  3. Clark Backo – undisclosed
  4. Peggy Lu – Mrs. Chen

Notably missing from the current cast list is Michelle Williams, who portrayed Anne Weying in the first two ‘Venom’ films.

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ had its release date moved several times

‘Venom: The Last Dance’ is set for release in the United States on October 25, 2024, in IMAX and other premium large formats. Initially slated for an October 2024 release, it was rescheduled for July 12, 2024, due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. Following the strike’s conclusion, the release was postponed to November 8, 2024, before being brought forward again to the original October 2024 timeframe. Recent reports suggest that the movie was pushed forward due to elections.
