The release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania allowed the MCU to move forward because this storyline no longer focuses on a topic that seems constricted to the characters involved. Instead, it talks about a topic that applies to the entire MCU and introduces a villain set to become the biggest threat to the Avengers in the future. We are talking about Kang the Conqueror.
While the main part of the Quantumania movie focuses on the Ant-Family and the fight against Kang the Conqueror in the Quantum Realm, the post-credit scenes allow the entire storyline to build up as the MCU heads into the future. That is why the post-credit scenes of Quantumania are so important for those waiting to see what’s in store for the future of the MCU. Now, let’s look at what happened in the post-credit scenes of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
How many post-credit scenes does Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania have?
If there’s one thing that we know about Marvel Studios, it’s that it has its way of giving us a sneak preview of what’s next for a certain movie franchise or even for the entire MCU. That is why MCU movies have post-credit scenes that allow us to see what’s next for the character or even this entire fictional universe. Of course, this has always been the case for the MCU and its movies.
So, with that said, it is no surprise that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania has post-credit scenes that allow us to see what’s next for Ant-Man and the other characters involved in this franchise. But how many post-credit scenes does Quantumania have?
Unlike some of the more recent MCU projects with only one post-credit scene, Ant-Man, and the Wasp: Quantumania returns to the standard of having two post-credit scenes. That means that there is one mid-credit scene right after the middle credits. And after the final credits, there is one more post-credit scene.
Both of these post-credit scenes are important in establishing the future of two MCU projects that are going to be successful. The first is related to the future of the MCU itself, especially when it comes to the larger Avengers storyline. Meanwhile, the second post-credit scene involves Loki and how Kang plays a role in season 2 of this successful Disney+ series.
What happens in the mid-credit scene?
We all know that the main enemy of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is Kang the Conqueror. This enemy found himself in the Quantum Realm when variants of himself banished him because he was so destructive. As seen by Janet when she saw a vision of the things that Kang did, he conquered worlds and destroyed entire timelines before he was exiled to a place that was beyond time and space.
In fact, during the movie’s later part, Kang revealed that he wanted to get out of the Quantum Realm so that he could exact his revenge on those who exiled him by using the army he built in the Quantum Realm. And he even told Scott Lang and the Ant-Family that they should let him go because those who exiled him were going to become threats to them in the future.
However, Kang was defeated during the events of Quantumania when his ship’s power core was destroyed along with him. Still, even after defeating Kang, Scott couldn’t shake off the feeling that he should have allowed Kang to do what he wanted because there would be a bigger threat to the universe if he didn’t destroy the ones that exiled him. Nevertheless, Scott went on to mind his own business as he finally decided that whatever Kang said probably wasn’t true.
But during the mid-credit scene, we met the other variants of Kang the Conqueror. We already know that Kang is like all the other people in the multiverse because he has variants of himself existing in other universes. We met the first variant during the events of Loki as this was the Kang that defeated all of the other Kangs to become “He Who Remains,” the man leading the Time Variance Authority.
However, in the mid-credit scene, we saw several more of those variants, as there seems to be a pecking order among the different Kangs that exist in the multiverse. One of the Kangs said that the one that was exiled had been killed. But while the Kangs were happy that the exiled one was dead, they expressed their concern about how the characters of the MCU are now learning more and more about the multiverse.
As such, one of the leaders of the Kangs summoned all of the other variants of Kang, as we saw countless variants summoned in what looked like an arena that existed in another universe. The fact that all of the Kangs were summoned from their timeline means that there is something important that they need to discuss regarding the multiverse and its current state.
What happens in the post-credit scene?
Of course, there is a post-credit scene that allowed us to see what could be next for the future of another MCU project. And yes, we are talking about the upcoming second season of the popular Loki series on Disney+.
As mentioned, we met He Who Remains back in the first season of Loki. After telling them that he was the survivor of a battle involving all of the variants of himself, he gave Loki and Sylvie a choice to kill or spare him. Killing him meant that the sacred timeline would now branch out and cause different universes to arise. Meanwhile, sparing him meant that the sacred timeline would be allowed to exist as the only timeline and universe.
However, Sylvie killed He Who Remains because she wanted to be the one to be in control over her destiny and fate. As such, this led to multiple timelines branching out from the sacred timeline as the Marvel multiverse was created. Loki, meanwhile, returned to the TVA to find out that no one in the TVA knew who he was and that the entire TVA timeline had been reset. And there was even a statue of a man resembling Kang in the TVA building.
In the second post-credit scene of Quantumania, we were brought back to what seemed like the late 1800s or the early 1900s as Loki and Mobius traveled back to watch what looked like a magic show. The one on stage, however, looked like a variant of Kang, as Loki told Mobius that this was “him.” Mobius, however, commented that he didn’t seem like a scary man, only for Loki to tell him that he was scarier than his appearance would suggest.
How do the post-credit scenes establish the future of the MCU?
We know that the next Avengers movie will be entitled Kang Dynasty, and this is where this dynasty was shown to us, as it was clear that the Kangs of the multiverse were working together in one way or another. As such, these Kangs could be the next threat to the MCU, especially considering that the exiled Kang was already a powerful opponent due to his advanced technology.
As such, as far as the first post-credit scene goes, it is a sneak preview into what’s next in store for the characters of the MCU or those living in Universe-616 because of how it introduces not one but countless Kangs as the possible enemies that they need to face.
Meanwhile, the second post-credit scene is clearly setting up the future of the Loki series, especially because season 2 is set to release later this year. The events of Loki have always been connected to the multiverse storyline, even though the series takes place in a timeline that’s outside of the current MCU timeline.
Nevertheless, it is possible that whatever is going to happen in season 2 of Loki is connected to the future of the MCU and even the events of Kang Dynasty, as it was due to season 1 that the multiverse even happened in the first place.
