One of the things that we know about the MCU is that moving forward, Kang will be the most important villain until the Kang Dynasty Avengers movie. Of course, while we met a variant of Kang in the Loki series, we officially met the Conqueror in the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as he was the main enemy of the Ant-Family in this movie. But what happens to Kang in Quantumania, and does he die?

Kang the Conqueror dies in the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. This was confirmed by the Council of Kangs when they said in the mid-credit scene that the “exiled one” was already dead. As such, he died when he tried to save his ship’s energy core from being destroyed by Ant-Man and the Wasp.

The fact that Kang died in Ant-man 3 was surprising to many fans because he was supposed to be the next big bad guy. Nevertheless, the mid-credit scene allowed us to see the real threats to the MCU, as they come in the form of the Council of Kangs. So, while the Conqueror may be dead, his variants are still very much alive and are set to become threats to our favorite heroes in the future.

Does Kang die In Ant-Man 3?

Before the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, we knew that the MCU’s next big bad guy would be officially revealed in this movie. Yes, we are talking about Kang the Conqueror, the same bad guy He Who Remains wanted to stop from becoming a reality when he created one sacred timeline that needed to be protected by the TVA. Nevertheless, the death of He Who Remains during the Loki series led to the birth of Kang the Conqueror.

During the events of Quantumania, Kang the Conqueror’s nature as a monstrous man was revealed. Even though he was just a regular human being, he did unspeakable acts throughout his entire life as he traveled from one universe to another and to different timelines to conquer and destroy. As such, entire universes fell to Kang until he was exiled to the Quantum Realm, where he became a prisoner.

While in the Quantum Realm, Kang met Janet, who was unaware of his true nature. They fixed the energy core of his ship together, and that was when Janet found out what kind of man he was. This prompted the original Wasp to use her Pym discs to enlarge the energy core so that Kang could never use it again. And the fact that Kang was a dangerous enemy was why Janet never talked about her time in the Quantum Realm and tried her best to ensure that the Ant-Family never set foot in it again.

But the fact that the Ant-Family found itself in the Quantum Realm through a signal that Cassie Lang remotely sent to that place was the key that allowed Kang to find a way to get himself out of that place. He had already established his place as the ruler of the Quantum Realm after creating a large army that he wanted to use to exact his revenge on the people that exiled him. The Conqueror used Cassie as a bargaining chip so that Scott would use his Pym discs to shrink the energy core back to its normal size.

Even though Kang had the energy core in his possession, he wanted to use it to take his entire army back to those who exiled him so he could eliminate them. Scott and the rest arrived just in time to stop him from leaving the Quantum Realm with his army, which led to an all-out battle between Kang and those who resisted him. This included the Ant-Family and the freedom fighters led by Jentorra.

In the end, Kang was defeated by the Ant-Family and their allies. However, while Scott, Hope, Cassie, Hank, and Janet were able to return to their world to live as happily as they could, Scott couldn’t shake off the feeling that something wrong was going to happen. So, did Kang truly die in Quantumania?

Only during the mid-credit scene was Kang the Conqueror’s death confirmed. In that scene, the Council of Kangs was introduced, as one of the members of this council said that the “exiled one” (referring to the Conqueror) had been killed. As such, Kang the Conqueror did indeed die during the movie’s events.

That means that Scott wasn’t worried about Kang the Conqueror when he couldn’t shake off the feeling that something bad was going to happen. Instead, he was worried that the Conqueror told him that his other variants would come after them soon. And that is where it gets interesting because the future of the MCU will now revolve around the Council of Kangs and their relationship with the MCU Multiverse.

How did Kang die?

As mentioned, Scott Lang and his allies arrived in time to oppose Kang the Conqueror and to prevent him from using his ship’s energy core to send himself and his troops to the Council of Kangs. In his gigantic form, Ant-Man managed to destroy the mechanism that would have allowed Kang and his army to leave the Quantum Realm. And that was when Kang decided to enter the battlefield.

Using his suit’s advanced tech, Kang overwhelmed the freedom fighters and forced them to retreat. He also defeated the trio of Scott, Hope, and Cassie, as they were trying their best to keep him at bay. Only when Hank and his army of gigantic ants arrived did Kang the Conqueror meet his match. While he was able to defend himself from the giant ants, MODOK arrived to betray his master and disable Kang’s shields so that the ants could overwhelm him.

Scott and the others thought that the Conqueror had already been defeated, and they opened a portal back to their world using Kang’s energy core. But just when Hank, Janet, Hope, and Cassie were back in their world, Kang returned to prevent Scott from returning home.

A fight between Kang and Ant-Man was on the way. However, due to his more powerful suit (despite its damage), Kang overwhelmed Scott. Hope returned to even things out as she and Scott decided to use their Pym discs on the energy core so that they could destroy it.

Kang, out of desperation, tried to stop the discs from destroying the energy core, but it imploded and took the Conqueror with it. We don’t know what happened to the energy core or how it was destroyed. But Kang was certainly killed at that moment.
