As a legendary outlaw and a spacefaring adventurer, Star-Lord has used a variety of ships to traverse the cosmos, both as a member of Ravagers and, later, as the leader of Guardians of the Galaxy. We have seen an extensive fleet of various ships throughout the MCU., and in this article, we’ll rank all four Star-Lord’s ships, by their origin, design, and unique features. So, let’s get to it.

4. Quadrant

Even though that Quadrant is just a detachable part (quadrant) of a larger ship, Eclector, it had a significant role in the battle against Ego, the Living Planet, in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2“. Quadrant is a Ravager ship, previously owned by Yondu, who sacrificed himself to save Quill. After that, Yondu was cremated on Quadrant. After his demise, the ship was briefly commandeered by Star-Lord and the Guardians, before they obtained the Benatar.

Features of the Quadrant include many weapons and defenses, including laser canons and missile launchers. The ship is durable, as it endured Ego’s tentacle-wrapping attack that nearly turned it upside down, but it prevailed. The ship also has advanced communications and scanning systems for locating targets and can serve as a smaller, more agile escape craft. His agility and decent force make this ship so useful for the Guardians of the Galaxy, but it lacks in size and many other features compared to the Milano and the Benatar.

3. The Milano

The Milano is M-ship classified aircraft. The Ravegers used those kinds of ships mostly for scouting, criminal activities, and dogfighting. Peter Quill obtained this ship when he was just ten years old, and it was given to him by Yondu. Being his primary ship and all, Quill adored the Milano, and he even named it after his childhood crush, actress Alyssa Milano.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1., Star-Lord has many adventures using the Milano. After Quill stole the Orb for himself and was planning to sell it, he used the Milano to flee from Korath the Pursuer, who was after the Orb, as well, and then went to Xandar to eventually sell the Orb.

This ship was Star-Lord’s home in every aspect. He even customized its interior with various symbols and things that reminded him of Earth and his mother. When Gamora complains about how the ship is filthy, Quill states that she has no idea how filthy it is, and if he had a blacklight, the ship would look like a Jackson Pollock painting. So, we get an idea of what else was going on at the Milano.

The Milano was severely damaged in the Battle of Xandar, but the Nova Corps rebuilt the Milano to demonstrate their gratitude to Quill and his team for saving Xandar.

The Milano is a fast, agile, and heavily armed vessel, perfect for outrunning enemies or engaging in a firefight. Notable features of the Milano include twin ion engines for high-speed space travel and an advanced weapons system, including energy blasters and missiles. It also has an onboard AI system for navigation and ship management. However, it was also the place where Star-Lord, and later his team spent most of their time. The Milano had a well-equipped living area, complete with a retro music collection being one of its main traits.

In Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the ship was severely damaged during a massive space battle with the Sovereign’s Omnicrafts. Rocket and Groot tried to repair it, but they never finished as they were attacked and taken to Eclector.

2. The Bowie

The reason why The Bowie is ranked second on this list is the fact that we still don’t know that much about it. In the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, we learn that The Guardians obtained a new ship, larger than the Benetar, with a cloaking device that can be turned on and off.

Mantis and Drax used the Bowie to go from Knowhere to Earth to abduct Kevin Bacon as a Christmas present for Peter Quill. The ship was named after another famous singer, David Bowie, and the repertoire of its powers and strengths is yet to be seen in future Marvel projects. However, considering its size and cloaking abilities, it is fair to assume that it is more advanced than the Milano and Quadrant, and we need more info to compare it with the Benatar.

1. The Benatar

Following the destruction of the Milano and the Guardians of the Galaxy using the Quadrant in their battle against Ego, in “Avengers: Infinity War,” the Benatar serves as the new primary ship for Star-Lord and the Guardians. The Benatar is introduced in “Avengers: Infinity War” and has since become a staple of the Guardians’ adventures. We are introduced to Benatar at the beginning of ”Avengers: Infinity War” when the Guardians follow a distress signal coming from an Asgardian ship after Ragnarok.

After that, Star-Lord flew the ship to Titan, where the Avengers confronted Thanos. After Thanos’s snap, the only people onboard the Benatar were Tony Stark and Nebula, who safely returned to Earth with Captain Marvel’s help.

Considering all the facts, it can be said that the Benatar served an even more important purpose than the Milano. The Benatar had an important part to play in ”Avengers: Endgame”, as it served to transport the Avengers to Thanos’s refuge where Thor killed him. After that, the Avengers planned the Time Heist and used Pym Particles to shrink the Benetar to bring it to the past. So, Hawkeye, Black Widow, Nebula, and War Machine used it to travel across space to obtain Infinity Stones.

After Thanos was defeated, The Guardians of the Galaxy, alongside Thor left Earth and continued their space adventures further in ”Thor: Love and Thunder”. The Benatar can be considered an upgraded version of the Milano as it has some notable features like enhanced ion engines for even faster space travel, a versatile weapons system with upgraded energy blasters, and missile capabilities. And what makes him stand out in comparison to the Milano is advanced stealth technology to avoid enemy detection.
