Marvel’s ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos’ Disney+ Series Reportedly Finished Filming

Since Marvel Studios decided to expand the MCU canon with spin-off shows that are exclusive to Disney+, we watched eight MCU shows (seven live-action and one animated) in two years, starting with ‘WandaVision’ in 2021. However, while we were getting more MCU content than ever, this proved to be a double-edged sword since there was just too much MCU content, and the entire franchise was somehow watered down.
Therefore, Marvel Studios decided to reconsider its release strategy, so next month, we’ll watch ‘Secret Invasion’, which will debut eight full months after the conclusion of the latest series, ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law,’ and later this year, we’ll watch the second season on ‘Loki,’ and the ‘Echo series,’ which will release all of its episodes at once, to create more room for the other upcoming shows, such as Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
The WandaVision spin-off reportedly wrapped filming!
According to @atlanta_filming (via Covered Geekly), the upcoming ‘WandaVision’ spin-off centered on Kathryn Hahn’s villainous witch Agatha Harkness has finished filming today. The filming began last January, and it was expected to last until May, so it looks like the production went all according to plan, despite the ongoing WGA strike that affected some other Marvel projects like ‘Daredevil: Born Again,’ ‘Wonder Woman,’ and ‘Blade.’
Kathryn Hahn debuted as Agatha Harkness in the first Disney+ MCU series — ‘WandaVision.’ Hahn received praise for her performance, and the character’s popularity increased even more thanks to the popular song “Agatha All Along,” which won the Primetime Emmy Award for ‘Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics’ and was nominated for the Grammy Award for ‘Best Song Written for Visual Media.’
Following the conclusion of ‘WandaVision,’ Elizabeth Olsen’s path in the MCU continued with ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ but Kevin Feige and his inner circle started developing additional spin-off shows, including ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos,’ and ‘Vision Quest,’ which will follow Paul Bettany’s White Vision after the events of ‘WandaVision.’
Despite Kathryn Hahn’s outstanding performance as Agatha Harkness, just like in Echo’s case, we can’t help but wonder what makes Agatha so worthy of a standalone project, and it honestly wouldn’t surprise us if the series gets “all episodes at once” release, just like Echo.
Jac Schaeffer, who served as the creator of ‘WandaVision,’ returns as the creator and head writer for ‘Agatha: Coven of Chaos.’ The series will consist of nine episodes and is expected to premiere in late 2024.
