Some comic book characters have existed for so long that we can’t help but ask ourselves how many stories they were featured in and how hard it must be to develop a story that wasn’t seen before during those past decades of character’s existence. Also, when you are developing a fictional character for so long, basically every writer will think of an idea to expand the character’s family tree. In this article, we will talk about everybody’s favorite Regenerating Degenerate. So, let’s see if Deadpool has any kids in the canon of Marvel Comics.
In Marvel Comics’ mainstream universe (aka Earth-616), Deadpool has one biological daughter. Her name is Eleanor Camacho. While some characters in Marvel Comics that are clones made of Deadpool’s DNA can be deemed his children, like Itsy Bitsy (combined with Spider-Man’s DNA) and Squirrelpool (combined with Squirrel Girl’s DNA), Eleanor is Deadpool’s only biological child. However, some Deadpool variants from across the Multiverse also had more children. For instance, on Earth-16356, Eleanor also had a half-sister Warda Wilson, who is also known as Deadpool 2099.
Eleanor Camacho is the daughter of Deadpool and Carmelita Camacho. Both Eleanor and her mother debuted in Marvel Comics in 2013, during Deadpool’s Volume 5, which ran from January 2013 to June 2015. In the rest of this article, we’ll talk more about Eleanor and her character history, as well as children of Deadpool from other parts of the Marvel universe.
How many children does Deadpool have?
The Marvel Multiverse is huge. Like, really huge. It contains numerous different universes and numerous variants of the same character. However, when we’re talking about the Marvel Comics canon, we always talk, unless we say otherwise, about its mainstream universe, officially known as Earth-616, where Deadpool has existed since the character was first created by Fabian Nicieza and Rob Liefeld in 1990.
This mainstream Deadpool has one biological daughter. Her name is Eleanor Camacho. She was created by Brian Posehn, Gerry Duggan, and Declan Shalvey, and she first appeared in ‘Deadpool’ Vol 5 #19 in November 2013. Her mother, Carmelita Camacho, debuted in the 13th issue earlier that year.
Carmelita Camacho is depicted as the daughter of a small market store owner in New York. After her father was killed by the goons of the mob boss known as the White Man, Carmelita’s mother hired the Heroes for Hire, a team accompanied by Deadpool, to defeat the White Man. Shortly after, both Carmelita and Deadpool were kidnapped by the White Man.
While they were locked up in a room in the White Man’s lair, Carmelita believed she wouldn’t survive much longer. So, wanting to spend her last moments loved, she and Deadpool had sex. Soon after, the Heroes for Hire arrived and defeated the White Man. After the battle, Deadpool took off his mask, which caused Carmelita to run away in horror. What Deadpool didn’t know was that Carmelita had been impregnated.
Carmelita raised her daughter Eleanor on her own. Years later, Carmelita and Deadpool meet again, but after she tells him about Eleanor, he says that she can’t be his daughter because she’s too beautiful. After Bartol Utler, aka Butler, kidnapped Carmelita and Eleanor and brought them to North Korea because Deadpool had quit his program, Deadpool liberated the camp of prisoners, but he also discovered Carmelita’s corpse.
Deadpool ultimately decided not to track Eleanor down because he didn’t want to bring her more pain, but Eleanor’s story continued later after Emily Preston found out that she was given to Butler’s estranged brother Joshua, who raised Eleanor as his own daughter after Butler lied to him that he saved her from an abusive family.
Eleanor is a mutant and a fan of Deadpool, although she feels uncomfortable around Deadpool’s violent nature. The alternate future set in 2099 later revealed that her mutant power is the ability to resurrect after she dies with her memories intact, but she rebirths at the same age when her powers first manifested when she was a teenager.
While Eleanor is the only biological daughter of the original Deadpool, we should also mention Warda Wilson. The Earth-16356 Wade Wilson and his wife, Shiklah, split before Warda was born, and Shiklah hid the existence of Warda from Deadpool. After her mother disappeared under unknown circumstances, Warda kidnapped Wade and tortured him by forcing him to watch C-SPAN on repeat.
She also assumed his identity for herself, becoming Deadpool 2099. Warda’s villain arc has also put her against her half-sister Ellie. Although eventually, Warda reconciled with her family in the end.
Will Deadpool have kids in the movies?
This article is solely based on Deadpool from the source material, but as always, we can’t write about something from the comics and not wonder if that could eventually happen in a live-action adaptation. As we know, Ryan Reynolds played Wade Wilson in three movies set in Fox’s ‘X-Men’ franchise, out of which two were standalone ‘Deadpool’ movies.
One of the subplots of ‘Deadpool 2,’ which depicted the titular character’s personal life, showed us how Wade and his fiancée Vanessa Carlysle had the plan to try out for a baby before Vanessa was killed in their apartment. That tragedy eventually caused Wade to develop father-like feelings for Firefist.
However, the movie’s mid-credit scene shows how Wade used Cable’s time-traveling device to save Vanessa. Since we know Morena Baccarin will return as Vanessa in the upcoming ‘Deadpool 3,’ there’s a chance we could see the continuation of that storyline. Maybe the upcoming movie will depict pregnant Vanessa. Who knows?
Would you like to see Ryan Reynolds’ Regenerating Degenerate as a family man? Do you think we’ll eventually meet Deadpool’s daughters in live-action? Let us know in the comments.
