While we all know that Darth Vader used to be Anakin Skywalker, one of the things that has always been clear was the fact that he also took in apprentices during his time as a Sith Lord, similar to when he took an apprentice when he was still with the Jedi Order. In that regard, he had a lot of different apprentices throughout his lifetime, and most of them were the dark operatives that he trained to be members of his elite Inquisitorius, which was a group of Inquisitors that were tasked to hunt Jedi down during the reign of the Empire.

Of course, we all know that Vader had one apprentice that never broke badly, and she happened to be the first that Anakin ever trained. So, with that said, let’s look at all of the apprentices trained by Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker.

Honorable Mention: Galen Marek/Starkiller

Let’s clarify Galen Marek, who was codenamed Starkiller during the events of the ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’ video games. He isn’t canon and is unlikely to become a canon character anytime soon. And that’s because his storyline in the games just doesn’t fit into the timeline of the current Star Wars canon.

Nevertheless, we include Galen Marek here because he is the first character that most fans think of when it comes to the apprentices trained by Darth Vader. Under normal circumstances, he should be number one on this list because he was powerful enough to defeat Vader and give Emperor Palpatine trouble. But the truth is that his power was just too exaggerated. And that’s why he belongs to our honorable mention.

16. Fourth Sister

The Fourth Sister is probably the only Inquisitor that doesn’t have a story that’s fleshed-out, and there is a possibility that we haven’t seen the last of her. We know that she appeared in the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series as one of the Inquisitors that hunted down the former Jedi Master.

Of course, not much is known about the fate of the Fourth Sister. But we know that she was one of the surviving Jedi that fell to the dark side and decided to work under Darth Vader as an Inquisitor. That means she received ample training as a Jedi before the fall of the Jedi Order.

15. Tales of the Jedi’s Unnamed Inquisitor

The storyline of Ahsoka Tano was partially told during the events of ‘Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi,’ where we saw what she did with her life after the rise of the Empire. This story mirrored the one in the ‘Ahsoka’ novel that detailed what Ahsoka did prior to her re-emergence in ‘Star Wars: Rebels.’ In that regard, the episode featuring this event in her life also featured an Inquisitor.

This unknown Inquisitor in ‘Tales of the Jedi’ is yet to be identified, but he appeared on the planet where Ahsoka had been hiding. While he appeared very powerful and fearsome, Ahsoka quickly defeated him using his lightsaber. And she was unarmed the entire time because she didn’t have her own lightsaber.

14. Corvax Descendant

The Corvax Descendant, often called the Smugger, is the captain of the starship Windfall and is known to be Force-sensitive. He is one of the lesser-known apprentices of Darth Vader for a good reason, and that’s because he made his first and only appearance in the ‘Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR’ series. And because this game isn’t as popular as some other Star Wars video games, the Smuggler isn’t very well-known.

Nevertheless, the Smuggler was still an apprentice under Vader as he eventually worked alongside the dark lord of the Sith throughout the entire events of the video game series. Nevertheless, the Smuggler also went against Vader in the events of the video game, especially during the time when Vader wanted to activate a relic that he thought could bring Padmé back to life.

13. Sixth Brother

The Sixth Brother was featured in the ‘Ahsoka’ novel that detailed what she did after the rise of the Empire. In this novel, Ahsoka hid on a rural planet and lived as a farm girl for around a year since the rise of the Empire. And her goal was to live a normal life while keeping her abilities as a Jedi a secret.

However, Ahsoka needed to use the Force to save her friends from harm, which allowed the Sixth Brother to learn her location. To save her friends, Ahsoka fought the Sixth Brother without using a lightsaber. She used the Force to overload the Kyber crystal in the Sixth Brother’s dual-bladed spinning lightsaber, destroying the lightsaber and killing the Inquisitor in the process.

After that, Ahsoka used the Kyber crystals in the lightsabers as the base of her new lightsabers after purging the corruption out of these corrupted Kyber crystals.

12. Tualon

Previously unnamed, Tualon was a Twi’lek Inquisitor that had a brief appearance in the ‘Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith’ comic series, wherein he showed a soft side because he had romantic feelings for his fellow Inquisitor.

Tualon participated in the mission that led to the death of Jedi Master Eeth Koth, who survived Order 66 but was eventually killed by Vader. But Tualon was also killed by Vader due to his weakness, as he showed that he had romantic feelings for his fellow Inquisitor. And it is also possible that Vader’s bitterness made him kill Tualon.

11. Iskat Akaris

Iskat Akaris was the Inquisitor that had a romantic relationship with Tualon. Her story will be focused on the events of ‘Star Wars: Inquisitor – Rise of the Red Blade,’ which will also feature Tualon as an important character. And she also made a short appearance in the aforementioned ‘Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith’ comic book series, wherein she participated in the mission to kill Eeth Koth.

During the mission to kill Koth, Iskat Akaris showed cruelty when she toyed with Koth’s wife. However, she eventually fled from Vader due to her attachment to Tualon, as she only wanted to spend the rest of it with her beloved. Nevertheless, they failed while she and her lover tried to kill Vader. Darth Vader eventually murdered her, thus ending her story.

10. Fifth Brother

The Fifth Brother was one of the Inquisitors that appeared during the events of ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ as he was one of the newest Inquisitors that Darth Vader ordered to go after the crew of the Ghost. This happens after Kanan Jarrus successfully defeats the Grand Inquisitor, who allows himself to die instead of allowing Kanan to save him out of fear of what Vader would do to him for failing to defeat the Spectres.

Throughout the events of ‘Rebels,’ the Fifth Brother worked with the Seventh Sister but competed with her to please Darth Vader. He made his live-action debut in the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series, where he, Reva, and the Grand Inquisitor went to Tatooine to extract information regarding any of the surviving Jedi Knights. The Fifth Brother, however, met his end on Malachor during the finale of Rebels season 2 as he wasn’t a match for Darth Maul.

9. Eighth Brother

Like the Fifth Brother, the Eighth Brother was one of the Inquisitors that appeared in ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ and was also one of the Inquisitors that Vader ordered around in ‘Darth Vader: Dark Lord of the Sith.’ While his story wasn’t explored much in all of his different appearances, he was a powerful Inquisitor who could hold his own against Kanan, as seen in the events of ‘Rebels.’

And this was because he was a Jango Jumper, a very agile alien race in the Star Wars world.

The Eighth Brother appeared in Malachor during the final parts of season 2 of ‘Rebels.’ While the other two Inquisitors saw their end at the hands of Maul, the Eighth Brother died by accident after his lightsaber was damaged in a duel with Kanan. He tried to flee by using his spinning lightsaber to die, only for the lightsaber to malfunction and cause him to die after he fell from a great height.

8. Seventh Sister

The Seventh Sister was a Mirialan Inquisitor that was also heavily featured in season 2 of ‘Rebels,’ where she and the ‘Fifth Brother’ often worked together to try to take down Kanan Jarrus and the rest of the crew of the Ghost.

She and the Fifth Brother were like rivals because they competed against one another instead of working together. And there was even a point wherein she tried to convince Ezra to become her apprentice.

Eventually, the Seventh Sister went with the Fifth Brother and the Eighth Brother to Malachor to hunt down Kanan, Ezra, and Ahsoka. While she and her fellow Inquisitors were able to hold down Kanan and Ahsoka, the arrival of Darth Maul changed things. She fought against Ezra, only for Maul to hold her up using the Force as he tried to tell Ezra to execute her.

When Ezra decided not to summarily kill the Seventh Sister, Maul decided to do it himself by throwing his lightsaber at her to cleave her in half.

7. Ninth Sister

The Ninth Sister was a powerful Inquisitor featured in the ‘Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order’ and the ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’ video games, wherein she faced Cal Kestis in both games. She served as a midway boss in the first game as she showcased her strength as a Dowutin. And the fact that she was bigger and physically stronger than the other Inquisitors gave her an advantage.

Formerly known as Masana Tide when she was still with the Jedi Order, the Ninth Sister’s true power could be seen in her ability to correctly read people using the Force. In the duel against Cal in ‘Survivor,’ she could accurately evade his attacks because she could read his mind. However, when Cal used the same technique she used against him, he could overpower her. Cal killed the Ninth Sister as an act of mercy as he believed she had suffered as an Inquisitor.

6. Second Sister

The Second Sister is an Inquisitor with a tragic life because she only turned to the dark side after succumbing to the horrific tortures she experienced after she and her master, Cere Junda, were captured by the Empire. Born Trilla Suduri, she was the main antagonist of the ‘Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order’ video game, wherein she hunted down the surviving Jedi Padawan named Cal Kestis and the crew of the Mantis.

After she became the Second Sister, Trilla became a cruel and merciless Inquisitor that was strong enough to easily defeat Cal during the earlier part of the video game and before he improved as a Jedi.

In that regard, she was powerful but not powerful enough to defeat a true Jedi Knight. The Second Sister lost her life when Darth Vader appeared at the end of the game to kill her for failing to defeat Cal Kestis and for almost forgiving her master for failing to protect her.

5. Reva/Third Sister

The Third Sister, whose real name was Reva Sevander, was one of the main antagonists of the ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ series and was a powerful Inquisitor that was strong enough to overpower an ordinary Jedi Knight and give problems to an out-of-shape Obi-Wan Kenobi during the earlier part of the series.

She gets her power from her anger, and there was a really good reason why she was so angry.

Reva was one of the younglings Anakin Skywalker encountered during the siege of the Jedi Temple at the height of Order 66. She escaped the slaughter by hiding under the dead bodies of the younglings that Anakin killed in cold blood.

The Empire eventually found her as Vader turned her into an Inquisitor. And she was so ambitious as an Inquisitor that she could get close enough to Vader to kill him, only to fail due to the superior power of the Sith Lord.

4. Tenth Brother

The Tenth Brother is the only former Jedi Master Darth Vader trained to become an Inquisitor. That means he was already a formidable combatant and Force user during the days of the Jedi Order.

Even Mace Windu acknowledged his power by saying he was as strong as any other Jedi he had ever faced in a duel. And that says a lot because Windu was strong enough to defeat Palpatine and could even be strong enough to take on Vader himself.

In the ‘Star Wars: Jedi of the Republic – Mace Windu’ comics, the Tenth Brother’s story was given more attention when he was still with the Jedi Order. He lost faith in the Republic and tried to kill Mace Windu, only for him to fail in doing so.

Eventually, he died in the same way that his former Jedi Masters died. A former Padawan mind-controlled the Tenth Brother’s own purge troopers to execute Order 66 against him, as he was executed by the same soldiers he trusted.

3. ‘Ahsoka’s’ Unnamed Inquisitor

While we thought that all of the Inquisitors had died before the events of the original Star Wars trilogy, we were wrong. That’s because the trailer of the upcoming ‘Ahsoka’ series showed that Ahsoka Tano was fighting an unnamed Inquisitor.

And we could tell this person was an Inquisitor because they wielded the same spinning dual-sided lightsaber that the Inquisitors were known to wield.

The theory is that this Inquisitor is Barriss Offee, who we know has a long history with Ahsoka. That would mean that Vader also trained Barriss to become an Inquisitor. And that would make sense because Barriss was one of the Jedi Knights that became disillusioned by the Jedi Order.

2. Grand Inquisitor

There is a reason why the Grand Inquisitor was the leader of the Inquisitorius, as he was the strongest and most powerful out of all of the Inquisitors that Darth Vader trained. Like many of the Inquisitors, he used to be a member of the Jedi Order. More specifically, the Grand Inquisitor was a Jedi Temple Guard, meaning he was already powerful before becoming an Inquisitor.

He made his first live-action debut in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ where he was thought to have been killed by Reva, only to reveal that he had survived to tell Vader of the Third Sister’s impending betrayal.

Strong in the dark side of the Force, the Grand Inquisitor was a threat to Kanan Jarrus, Ezra Bridger, and the Spectres during the first season of ‘Rebels.’ In fact, Kanan was no match for him until he found harmony in the Force and was finally able to overpower the Grand Inquisitor.

While Kanan tried to help him in the end, the Grand Inquisitor decided to die because he feared Darth Vader more than he feared death.

1. Ahsoka Tano

It’s no surprise that Ahsoka Tano is at the top of this list, as she was the only apprentice that Anakin Skywalker trained before he became Darth Vader. While Ahsoka is undoubtedly popular, she is also the strongest apprentice that Vader ever trained, as she proved herself time and time again against strong opponents.

In season 7 of ‘The Clone Wars,’ she fought and defeated the very same Darth Maul that could easily defeat an Inquisitor. And in ‘Rebels,’ Ahsoka could handle multiple Inquisitors at once.

But while all of the Inquisitors feared Vader, Ahsoka never showed fear toward her former master as she could give him a tough duel on Malachor. While Darth Vader was ultimately stronger and was about to kill her before Ezra saved her, Ahsoka was still a strong enough Jedi to fight her former master on par and even live through the reign of the Empire to become one of the few Jedi to have fought in the Clone Wars and survive the Imperial era.
