Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘ is the second installment of what will be an animated movie trilogy revolving around Miles Morales, a variant of Spider-Man from Earth-1610, aka the Marvel Ultimate universe.

The first film, ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,’ dropped back in 2018 and garnered incredible reviews, winning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film – and rightfully so. Five years later, we finally got the sequel, which absolutely met our expectations.

The movie arrived in theaters worldwide on June 2, 2023, and immediately blew us away with an even more complex story and the signature phenomenal animation that basically granted its prequel the Oscar nod. It also grossed around $664 million worldwide, making it one of the highest-grossing Marvel films in recent years.

But, if you missed the movie when it was in theaters – or just can’t wait to give it another watch – you might’ve wondered when you’ll be able to watch ‘Spider-Verse 2’ at home. Well, the wait is now officially over – or, at least, we know exactly when it will be over.

When is ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ coming out digitally?

‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ can already be pre-ordered on Amazon Prime, and it will officially be released in digital format online on August 8, 2023. That’s right, a little bit more than half a month, and you’ll be able to enjoy the movie from the comfort of your home.

That means ‘Spider-Verse 2’ will be released digitally even faster than its prequel. ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ came out in theaters on December 12, 2018, and was available digitally on February 29, 2019 – meaning a 74-day delay between the two release dates.

On the other hand, ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ came to theaters on June 2, 2023, and will arrive in digital format on August 8, 2023 – 67 days after the theatrical release.

We still don’t know when the physical formats are coming out – DVD, Blu-Ray, and 4K – but you can expect a release two or three weeks after the digital option becomes available. For reference, Into the Spider-Verse got out on March 18, 2019 – about two and a half weeks after the digital release.

Will ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ be on Netflix?

We’re used to Marvel movies – MCU, that is – coming out on Disney+ after getting released theatrically. However, ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ isn’t an MCU movie but rather a Sony Pictures film. And in 202, Sony signed a deal with Netflix where they’ll send their movies to the platform after the theatrical runs.

Therefore, ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ will likely come out on Netflix somewhere in late September 2023, should this movie follow the trend of other Sony Pictures films that are already on Netflix after the deal was signed, such as ‘65’ or ‘A Man Called Otto.’

Both of these films came to Netflix 120 days after being released in theaters, so you can expect a similar timeframe for Spider-Verse 2 as well.

Will ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ be on Disney+?

‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ won’t be on Disney+ any time soon – for as long as it is available on Netflix. The deal between Sony and Netflix is for an 18-month run, after which ‘Spider-Verse 2’ will be eligible to arrive on Disney+ to be available alongside other Marvel products.

It won’t come before February 2025, though, or perhaps even later, so you’ll have to settle with either the digital version, DVD, 4K, Blu-ray, or Netflix.
