If there’s one character that has become quite popular among different Star Wars fans, it’s Ahsoka Tano. Other than the fact that she has an upcoming series entitled ‘Ahsoka,’ she has been around for a while already and has a story that’s intertwined with the likes of Anakin Skywalker, Ezra Bridger, Luke Skywalker, and Din Djarin. That’s why she has become one of the most popular Force wielders in existence and is one of the most prominent characters around.
Ahsoka is also wise, which makes her a great character. Fans could see her growth from an immature and headstrong Padawan to one of the wisest Force wielders we’ve seen recently. As such, she has said many things that stuck with fans. Now, let’s look at the best Ahsoka Tano quotes in the storyline of Star Wars.
1. “I am no Jedi!”
If there’s one quote that truly tells the truth about Ahsoka, it’s this one. That’s because she was not a Jedi in terms of name and affiliation, as she left the Jedi Order before the end of the Clone Wars. Ahsoka said this in her duel with Vader when she said that she was going to avenge the “death” of Anakin, to which Vader replied that revenge is not the Jedi way.
Ahsoka was reaffirming her new way of living by saying she wasn’t a Jedi. She was still loyal to the light side of the Force, but she was willing to do whatever it took for her to help other people, including avenging her former master by killing the entity that took over and “killed” Anakin Skywalker. And by saying that she wasn’t a Jedi, she was saying that she had her own path different from what the Jedi had for her.
2. “I kike firsts. Good or bad, they’re always memorable.”
One thing that surprised many fans was Ahsoka Tano’s live-action debut in ‘The Mandalorian,’ where she met Din Djarin and Grogu. That was when Din started to learn more about Grogu, as Ahsoka could communicate with him through the Force.
This quote from Ahsoka is one of the things that best describes her character. She has always experienced many first things in life, many of which were not entirely good. But she always thought that her first experiences were always memorable because they taught her valuable lessons in life.
3. “Then I will avenge his death!”
It might be true that revenge is not the way of the Jedi, but let’s not forget that Ahsoka was no longer a Jedi. She valued her relationships with other people, especially her master, who she was deeply attached to because Anakin was like an older brother to her. In that regard, she felt emotions for her master, and that’s not something that the Jedi were known for.
So, when Ahsoka realized that Darth Vader had completely consumed Anakin Skywalker, the only thing that she had in her mind was vengeance. Ahsoka wanted to avenge her master’s “death” after she lost her to this cybernetic monster. And that was because she cared for her master uniquely regarding the Jedi Order.
4. “You don’t have to look tough to be tough.”
A young Ahsoka Tano was already full of wisdom herself, and she was a very smart and intelligent person that knew how to look beyond a person’s appearance. In one of the episodes of ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars,’ Ahsoka worked with a few bounty hunters to keep a small village safe. That was when she met Seripas, a bounty hunter operating a huge droid.
So, when Ahsoka saw Seripas’ true form, she did not waste time telling him that he didn’t have to look tough to be tough. Of course, Ahsoka herself doesn’t even look like a tough character, but she can beat anyone in the galaxy in single combat.
5. “You don’t have to carry a sword to be powerful. Some leaders’ strength is inspiring others.”
In ‘The Clone Wars,’ there was an arc involving a civil war on the planet of Mon Cala, where we saw a young ruler named Lee-Char, who was placed on the throne after his father was murdered. In that regard, Lee-Char was not a very strong warrior and was still learning what it meant to be a leader.
When Lee-Char thought he needed to be on the frontlines to help his people, Ahsoka reassured him that being a leader didn’t always mean being a strong fighter. That’s because some of the greatest leaders were better off being inspirational figures to others, and that was what Ahsoka thought Lee-Char was for his people.
6.“You’ll find I have many qualities for you to dislike.”
One of the greatest arcs in the storyline of Star Wars was the Siege of Mandalore, which allowed us to see Ahsoka Tano teaming up with Bo-Katan Kryze and the other Mandalorians to try to unseat Darth Maul from the throne of Mandalore. She was at her brightest in this arc, especially in her duel with Maul.
In that epic duel, Maul noticed that Ahsoka had the same kind of “arrogance” that Obi-Wan Kenobi had. That was when Ahsoka told Maul that she had a lot of qualities that he wouldn’t like about her because of the fact that she was trained by the man that Obi-Wan trained. Of course, Ahsoka herself was quite close to Kenobi after going on missions with the Jedi Master a lot of times during the Clone Wars.
7. “When I was out there alone, all I had was your training and the lessons you taught me. And because of you, I did survive.”
There was a point in ‘The Clone Wars’ when Ahsoka was placed in a situation wherein it was either life or death for her. She didn’t have her master at that time and was still quite young. But she used Anakin’s teachings to survive on her own.
This was one of the clear examples of the relationship between Ahsoka and Anakin. While most masters taught their Padawans the basics of being a Jedi, Anakin taught Ahsoka how to be a survivor. And she used everything she learned from her master throughout her entire life when she survived Order 66, the Inquisitors, and even her own fallen master.
8. “He’s formed a strong attachment to you. I cannot train him.”
During the events of ‘The Mandalorian,’ Din Djarin finally found a Force wielder that he thought could take Grogu in and train him. After all, his mission was to find someone that could take Grogu in. And that was when he met Ahsoka.
While Ahsoka thought about taking Grogu in and raising him, one of the things that she sensed was his attachment to Din. Ahsoka understood what attachments could do to the best Jedi because her master fell to the dark side due to his attachments. As such, Ahsoka decided that she shouldn’t train Grogu as she feared what his attachments could lead him to.
9. “If there’s one thing I’ve learned from you, Master, it’s that following direct orders isn’t always the best way to solve a problem.”
There was a point in the storyline of ‘The Clone Wars’ wherein Ahsoka came along on a dangerous mission even though Anakin told her to stay behind. Of course, Anakin was angry about how his Padawan disobeyed his orders.
Ahsoka, of course, told Anakin that there were certain points in life wherein she needed to disobey an order if it meant solving a problem. She learned this from none other than Anakin himself, who was always known for disobeying orders to complete a mission.
10. “I won’t leave you, not this time.”
Even though Ahsoka doubted Darth Vader’s identity, she ultimately learned he was truly Anakin Skywalker. That was when she decided to stay to fight and try to bring him back to who he truly was. And that’s because she didn’t want to abandon him again
This goes all the way back to when Ahsoka left Anakin and the Jedi Order when her former master was already feeling doubts about the Jedi and was inching closer to the dark side. Ahsoka partly blamed herself for Anakin’s downfall because she wasn’t there to help him during his time of need. And when she discovered Anakin was Vader, she didn’t want to abandon him again.
11. “I did realize something. The politics of war are not as black and white as I once thought they were.”
The thing about the Clone Wars was that there was no real villain between the Republic and the Separatists. Both sides had their own faults in the war, which was what many people often forget. But Ahsoka was able to experience all sides of the Clone Wars herself when she saw that there were people affected by the war and after she met Separatists that weren’t exactly evil.
In that regard, Ahsoka realized that not even the Republic she was fighting for was innocent. The Republic and the Jedi Order themselves were just as flawed as the Separatists. And that was one of the reasons why Ahsoka eventually left the Jedi Order to forge her own path in life and find something truly worth fighting for.
12. “You’re a good soldier, Rex. So is every one of those men down there. They may be willing to die, but I am not going to be the one Who kills them.”
During the finale of ‘The Clone Wars,’ one of the things that we saw was that Ahsoka and Rex were up against all of the clones of the 501st division after Order 66 was initiated. But while her life was in danger, Ahsoka still knew the men trying to kill her because she fought alongside them the entire war.
In that regard, Ahsoka still had the heart of a true Jedi because she didn’t want to kill the soldiers she befriended and learned to care for. She refused to kill the clones because she knew they weren’t themselves. And after they ended up falling at the end, Ahsoka couldn’t help but feel sorry for not being able to help the comrades that she befriended.
13. “The Republic couldn’t have asked for better soldiers, nor I a better friend.”
Again, Ahsoka was one of the few Jedi who could form a true bond with the clones she fought alongside throughout the entire Clone Wars. She trusted and believed in the soldiers so much because they always had her back during the war.
So, after Ahsoka defeated Darth Maul on Mandalore, she thanked Rex for being a good soldier and an even better friend to her. That was why Rex was one of the few Jedi who became a true friend to Ahsoka her entire life. And we saw them having a heartfelt reunion years later during the ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ events.
14. “Maybe, but I have to sort this out on my own, without the Council, and without You.”
One of the saddest moments of ‘The Clone Wars’ was when Ahsoka Tano was framed by Barriss Offee and was ousted by the Jedi Council from the Jedi Order for being a suspect in the bombing of the Jedi Temple. In that regard, Ahsoka felt that the entire Jedi Order abandoned her outside her master.
So, after Anakin proved Ahsoka’s innocence, the Jedi Order wanted to take her back and give her the title of Jedi Knight. Nevertheless, Ahsoka decided to leave the Jedi Order because she felt betrayed and had also realized that the Jedi Order has its own flaws as well. And that was why it was important for her to find her own path in life.
15. “There’s always a bit of truth in legends.”
There were many things that changed in the storyline of Star Wars by the time that ‘Rebels’ started, and that meant that even the Jedi Order became a myth because the Jedi had already been all but wiped out from the face of the galaxy.
In that regard, when Ahsoka appeared as Fulcrum to the Rebels, she was able to inspire them because she was a Jedi. She insisted that there was a truth behind the legend of the Jedi Order. And as a legend herself, she needed to fight against the Empire.
16. “Sometimes the student guides the Master.”
If there’s something that fans always knew about Ahsoka, it’s that she wasn’t always the best student when she was learning under Anakin Skywalker. That’s why she also taught Anakin many things about patience and understanding. And when she saw Din Djarin and Grogu, she decided to tell him that there were instances when the student was the one that guided the master.
In a way, this is true because we know that Anakin also learned a lot from Ahsoka. After all, Yoda installed Ahsoka as Anakin’s Padawan learner so that he would learn a valuable lesson about attachments. And that’s why Anakin also learned a lot of lessons from his time as Ahsoka’s teacher.
17. “Forgive me if I’m not optimistic. I thought I was part of that Order, but everyone, except Anakin, has abandoned me. I’m not holding out much hope the Senate will treat me any better.”
After Ahsoka was finally caught by the Republic when she was a fugitive running away when she was framed for the bombing of the Jedi Temple, she met up with Padmé, who was one of the people that tried to fight for her innocence.
Nevertheless, Ahsoka was somewhat pessimistic about the situation because everyone she thought was supposedly on her side had abandoned her. Anakin and Padmé were the only ones willing enough to hear her out, and that’s why she couldn’t help but feel betrayed by the people she trusted the most and even looked up to during her time as a Padawan.
18. “Well, I’ve learned from my Master that sometimes doing the right thing means bending the rules.”
One of the things that we always knew about Anakin was that he was one of the best at bending the rules if it meant achieving success and victory. He bent many rules during the Clone Wars because he felt he needed to disobey some of these rules to get the results he wanted. And that was how Ahsoka learned from Anakin that there were times when she needed to bend a few rules to do the right thing.
Of course, Ahsoka lived by these words and even taught them to the people she met along the way. Some rules were meant to be broken, especially if there was a good reason for Ahsoka to actually break the rules.
19. “I’ve seen what such feelings can do to a fully trained Jedi Knight. To the best of us. I will not start this child down that path. Better to let his abilities fade.”
As mentioned, Ahsoka Tano met Din Djarin and Grogu during the events of ‘The Mandalorian.’ Din finally thought that he could now give Grogu to a true Jedi that could take him in and train him in the ways of the Force. However, Ahsoka declined to take the child.
The reason why Ahsoka didn’t want to train Grogu was the fact that the child was so attached to Din. Ahsoka knew how attached Anakin was to the people he loved, and this attachment led him to the dark side. She was afraid Grogu might end up falling to the dark side as well because he was so attached to Din Djarin.
20. “I understand that, as usual, you’re playing politics. This is why the people have lost faith in the Jedi. I had too, until I was reminded of what the Order means to people who truly need us.”
During the final moments of the Clone Wars, Ahsoka tried to convince the Jedi Order to send soldiers to Mandalore to help the Mandalorians defeat Darth Maul once and for all. Of course, instead of sending help right away, Obi-Wan Kenobi wanted the Jedi Council to know about this first so that they could decide on the matter.
That was when Ahsoka finally snapped at him and told him he was now more of a politician than an actual Jedi. For Ahsoka, a true Jedi wouldn’t hesitate to try to help people in need, which was why she no longer trusted the Jedi Order because of all of the politicking going on from within. And she allowed Obi-Wan to truly understand how she felt about what the Jedi had been doing.
21. “As a Jedi, we were trained to be keepers of the peace, not soldiers. But all I’ve been since I was a Padawan is a soldier.”
In addition to the fact that Ahsoka understood that the main goal of the Jedi was to maintain peace and order in the galaxy, she was forced to go to war as a 14-year-old Padawan because the Jedi were conscripted as leaders for the clones during the Clone Wars
However, as the war waged on, Ahsoka began to realize that she and the other Jedi were no longer keepers of the peace but were now soldiers for the Republic. There is a fine line between being a soldier and a keeper of the peace, and it was clear that the Jedi were only fighting in the Clone Wars because the Republic ordered them to do so. In that regard, Ahsoka began seeing the faults within the Jedi Order itself.
22. “In my life, when you find people who need your help, you help them, no matter what. I guess it’s just who I am.”
After Ahsoka left the Jedi Order, she lived with the Martez sisters for a while because they valued her knowledge of mechanics. But Rafa, the older of the Martez sisters, often questioned why Ahsoka was helping them. And she had a good reason to doubt Ahsoka because the Martez sisters were always suspicious of the people around them due to what happened to them in the past.
In that regard, Ahsoka merely told Rafa that she always wanted to help people whenever they were in need. For her, helping another person in need was never something people should do for a good reason. Ahsoka was simply a person that was raised to help others whenever she had a chance to do so.
23. “Truthfully, I don’t understand any of it. I know the Separatists are evil, but all anyone argued about was banking deregulation, interest rates and, well, almost nothing about why we’re fighting in the first place.”
This goes back to the fact that the Jedi Order was now more involved in politics than actually working to keep the peace in the Republic. The Jedi Order was established to maintain peace and order instead of meddling in the affairs of the politicians of the galaxy. But things were different during the events of the Clone Wars because the Jedi Council became more concerned with all of the politicking going on in the Senate.
Ahsoka noticed just how interested the Jedi Order had become in the political affairs of the Senate. That was when she started questioning what the Jedi Order actually stood for and whether or not they were fighting for what they truly believed in.
24. “Master, you can make it, but everyone else is getting shot down. Master!”
If there’s one thing that has always been true about Anakin, it’s that he was quite reckless to a fault. Many things he did as a Jedi were very dangerous, especially to the people around him. Oftentimes, he was reckless. He knew he could escape such situations without getting hurt because he was the Chosen One. But there were moments when the people around him were not as lucky.
In one of their missions, Ahsoka reminded Anakin that his recklessness could also endanger the people around him. He may be able to escape a tough and reckless situation unharmed, but the people around him were not as strong and powerful as he was. And that was when Anakin started becoming more careful with his actions because he needed to consider those around him.
25. “I am one with the Force, and the Force is with me.”
In one of the best moments in ‘The Clone Wars,’ Ahsoka removed the inhibitor chip in Captain Rex’s brain using nothing but her trust in the Force. She didn’t know where the chip was, but she ultimately decided to trust the will of the Force and allow it to guide her so that she could help her friend out.
Of course, this quote was first heard from Chirrut Îmwe in ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.’ While Chirrut wasn’t Force-sensitive, he trusted the will of the Force as a member of the Guardians of the Whills. And it is possible that Ahsoka might have met a few Guardians along the way and learned the importance of trusting in the will of the Force regardless of whether you are a Jedi or not.
