Scarlet Witch vs. Superman: Who Would Win in a Fight?

Superman will, without a doubt, go down in history as one of the most powerful superheroes in existence. He has incredible powers and abilities, is faster than light, and is practically invulnerable. Since Superman is so popular, most fans are familiar with the fact that he also doesn’t have any special resistance to magic, so what would happen if we decided to pit him against one of the most powerful magic users in comics, Scarlet Witch? This is what we set out to explore today and trust me, it’s not going to be an easy comparison. Now without further ado, let’s see when it comes to a fight between Scarlet Witch and Superman, who is more powerful, and who would win?
Scarlet Witch is more powerful than Superman, but Superman is vastly physically stronger than Wanda and would likely be able to tank her most potent magical attacks. His physical supremacy doesn’t warrant him the win, however, as it would mean very little if Scarlet Witch would summon enough juice to change reality and, through it, defeats Superman in a variety of ways. Still, Superman is fast enough to speed-blitz Scarlet Witch before she even thinks about reacting to his attack, which would theoretically make this fight a draw.
Now that we’ve covered who would be the ultimate winner, it’s time to analyze it in a bit more detail. We’re going to compare the powers, abilities, strength, durability, speed, and other aspects of both characters so you can see how we came to our conclusion. Powers and abilities
The source of Wanda’s powers is two-fold in nature. First, she has access to chaos magic, a rare and taboo form of magic that stems from the demonic lord Chthon. Second, she is a Nexus Being, allowing her to affect probability and, through it, re-adjust the reality according to her needs. The fact that she is a Nexus Being works in perfect union with her magic powers as she serves as a universal focus for magical energies in the universe.
Where does this leave us? Wanda can change reality according to her whims without breaking a sweat and unleashing her powerful destructive magic; when it comes to that, she also kicks some serious ass. Most people like to reference the ‘House of M‘ storyline when Wanda Managed to decrease the population of mutants with a single sentence, but what you can’t forget is the fact that Wanda can hurt others in a plethora of other ways as well.
Wanda has vast elemental and eldritch damage, as chaos magic is not the only type of magic that she can control. She can even utilize biological manipulation. She can create energy constructs, manipulate gravity, create illusions, turn invisible at will, and plenty of other neat stuff aimed to bring her quite the advantage in combat.
Superman also has many powers, but they are a bit humble in nature compared to Scarlet Witch. Superman owes his powers to his Kryptonian physiology. He is powered by Solar energy, meaning he can absorb, utilize, and even emit it. His most notable ability, however, remains his heat vision, capable of melting through almost any material known to mankind, and his freeze breath, which is capable of creating powerful and destructive vortexes of air and chilling objects on a molecular level.
As Superman as a character aged, however, there was a necessity to introduce other powers to the mix. Recent versions of Superman are able to eject massive solar flares with the potential to annihilate everything in existence in a certain radius. He doesn’t use those as often, however, due to the nasty side-effect that drains his powers almost completely, leaving him just a bit stronger than a regular human.
Superman was also exposed to Warworld’s Genesis-powered “white” sun, and it gave him some additional powers and abilities that rendered weight, distance, temperature, and even spacetime meaningless to him. He gained a moderate ability to create limited energy constructs and mechanokinesis.
Even though the recent white-sun-empowered version of Superman is incredibly powerful and has some potential to affect reality, Wanda is still more powerful than Superman on a massive scale and has a huge advantage. The point goes to Scarlet Witch.
Points: Scarlet Witch (1:0) Superman
Strength and Stamina
Even though it’s estimated that Superman can lift up to 2 billion tons, his potential is limitless as long as he has a steady energy source. His strength is incalculable, and this potential is also transferred to his stamina.
Superman can keep fighting if he has access to the yellow sun. Even if he doesn’t have access to this type of energy, he can store excess energy inside his cells and tap into that potential at a later time. This largely expands the time he is able to fight. Still, even those reserves aren’t infinite.
Wanda is human at the end of the day, which means that she has access to human stamina and physical strength. Yes, she can empower herself via magic and lift heavy objects via telekinesis, but her raw strength potential is nowhere near that of Superman. She cannot fight as long as he can, and her blows carry so much less force than what Kryptonian can dish out.
This goes without question. Superman’s strength doesn’t have a limit; the point goes to him.
Points: Scarlet Witch (1:1) Superman
Speed
Superman is not a classical speedster as he is not connected to the Speed Force. Still, he managed to reach impressive speeds of up to 186,000 miles per second and casually flew at speeds several hundred times faster than light. The most impressive speed feat that Superman has remains the fact that he managed to win some of the races against the Flash, the fastest speedster in DC comics.
Superman’s combat speeds aren’t as dramatic as his flying and movement speeds. However, he is often blurred and invisible to the human eye as he fights. He simply has superior reaction times and reflexes.
Wanda has human movement speed. She can teleport, open portals, and astrally project. She can levitate and fly just as well as Superman can, but she cannot reach the speeds that Superman can reach, even more so when we take combat into account. Wanda doesn’t have some mind-blowing combat speeds and reflexes at her disposal, but the odds of relying on her fists are fairly small in any case.
Wanda could never last a second in a fight against Superman, relying on her combat speed. Due to this, the point goes to Man of Steel.
Points: Scarlet Witch (1:2) Superman
Durability
Superman is virtually invulnerable, he is functionally immortal, and there aren’t that many things that can pierce his skin and make him bleed or even circumvent his healing factor to a large extent. Superman has the potential to tank the destruction of an entire planet, but there are some things that can hurt him. Superman is largely vulnerable to the effects of Green Kryptonite which has the potential to kill him.
Superman is also vulnerable to magic. Although his “weakness” to magic isn’t as drastic as his vulnerability to Green K, it can still hurt him and slow him down.
Scarlet Witch doesn’t have access to superhuman durability, but she does have access to various spells, hexes, shields, and other occult knowledge that can make her more durable in a fight or otherwise induce her healing factor, which she naturally doesn’t possess. Scarlet Witch wouldn’t be able to tank not even a single Superman’s blow but assisted with her magic; she might stand a chance.
In usual circumstances, Superman would get this durability point, but since Scarlet Witch wields magic, one of Superman’s notable weaknesses, this is not going to happen. However, it would be laughable to award the durability point to Wanda, as she is a glass canon and can die through the same means as any average human can. No one gets the point.
Points: Scarlet Witch (1:2) Superman
Intelligence
Superman is highly intelligent due to his unique brain structure afforded to him by his Kryptonian physiology. His brain is just built differently, allowing him to process information much faster than a regular human can. Superman, however, lacks feats, as the most notable brain in the Justice League seems to be Batman.
Scarlet Witch is not a genius, but she is highly informed and educated on matters related to the occult and magic. She also has vast experience and is a skilled strategist. Scarlet Witch spent many years perfecting her hexes and exploring the exact nature of her powers, and if you have any questions regarding sorcery or the divine, your best bet is to ask Wanda.
Scarlet Witch might be a master of the occult, but Superman can perceive information and the world around him much much faster than Wanda can. He is simply smarter on a biological level.
Points: Scarlet Witch (1:3) Superman
Combat Skills
Superman has received extensive training in various forms of combat, including boxing, Jujitsu, Krav-Maga, wrestling, stick-fighting, and swordsmanship, making him an excellent hand-to-hand fighter. Even though he is not considered to be among the best fighters or martial artists in the DC, he is still, due to his biological advantages, hard to defeat.
Wanda received formal combat training from some of the best fighters in the Marvel Universe, such as Captain America and Hawkeye. She is far from being a master combatant, but she can hold her ground decently if it comes to it. She rarely enters combat without relying on her magic, however.
There are non-existent chances that Wanda would engage Superman in a straight-up fight. This point goes to Man of Steel.

Scarlet Witch vs. Superman: Who would win in a fight?
Now, it’s clear that Superman would win the physical portion of the fight against the Scarlet Witch. However, due to the aforementioned Superman’s weaknesses and the fact that Wanda is a skilled reality manipulator, it’s obvious that she can win this fight in infinite ways. Most people like to mention the ‘House of M’ feat, but how many times was she able to repeat something of similar magnitude?
And how many times did she lose against characters far less powerful than herself and Superman? Scarlet Witch can get rid of the Phoenix Force and summon powerful omniverse-destroying chaos wave, but alternate versions of Superman likewise have universe-breaking feats. I’d call this one a draw. Scarlet Witch can always eliminate Superman via magic / reality manipulation, but Superman can strike her down before she even manages to react to the attack.
