The ‘Ahsoka’ series is now nearing its release date, which means we are now getting more and more information regarding this series. At this point, we don’t know a lot about the flow of the story or what will happen in it. But we do know that reports suggest that Obi-Wan Kenobi might be returning to the Star Wars world in a manner that might not sit well with fans. But trust us when we say that it makes sense.
Ahsoka will be on Mustafar
Back in December of 2022, it was reported that there were scenes that included Hayden Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker. At first, fans thought he would reprise his role as the black armor-clad Darth Vader. But the scenes that were shot with Christensen suggest otherwise, as there were reports that Hayden and an actress for Ahsoka (not Rosario Dawson) were practicing for a fight scene that would take place on Mustafar.
In fact, Christensen was seen wearing the same robes that he wore during the events of ‘Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.’ That means that the scene will allow us to return to Mustafar, where we know Anakin got burnt to a crisp after he was defeated in a fight with Obi-wan Kenobi.
But one of the things that we also found out is that the fight will feature Anakin and Ahsoka on Mustafar. Now, this was never featured in ‘Revenge of the Sith’ or in ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ as Ahsoka was off elsewhere in the galaxy while the events of the Battle on Mustafar were happening. This suggests that Ahsoka used the World Between Worlds to get to this point so that she could try to reason with Anakin. After all, we saw in ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ how distraught Ahsoka was after learning that Darth Vader was her old master the entire time.
This scene will be featured in the upcoming ‘Ahsoka’ series to allow Ahsoka to learn that she cannot change the past. She taught Ezra Bridger this when he saved her from Vader.
Ezra was about to attempt to save his master, Kanan Jarrus, from certain death. But Ahsoka prevented him from doing so because he needed to let go of his master. Of course, if Ezra had taken Kanan out from that point in time, the other members of the Ghost crew would have been killed, as it was Kanan who allowed them to live by sacrificing himself.
But the fact that Ahsoka is now seemingly using the World Between Worlds to travel through time suggests that she failed to take her advice. She could not accept that Anakin had fallen to the dark side, which was probably why she returned to that moment in time on Mustafar to confront her old master.
Anakin killed Obi-Wan
Eight months have passed since that information about Anakin and Ahsoka on Mustafar became public, and now we are hearing reports from the Making Star Wars YouTube channel that there were shots of a dead Obi-Wan Kenobi seen in that same scene involving Anakin and Ahsoka.
This Kenobi corpse, of course, is unlikely to be Ewan McGregor but is likely a dummy made to look like him. And the implication of this Obi-Wan corpse is that Anakin killed him on Mustafar instead of losing to him in that battle.
Making Star Wars said this:
“They filmed a sequence where Ahsoka sees herself on Mustafar fighting Hayden Christensen’s Darth Vader before he’s in the suit. They are new scenes. They had a dummy for a dead Kenobi and they had clothes for a dead Kenobi. They had two ideas there. One is Anakin literally kills Kenobi in that fight where the idea would be Ahsoka and Kenobi confront Darth Vader. Another is he turns into a pile of clothes just like he always did – he becomes one with the Force at that time in the narrative.”
In that regard, it is possible that Ahsoka meddled with time and space when she entered the World Between Worlds and meddled with the result of the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan. This might explain why Obi-Wan was dead in that Mustafar scene. And this could be one of the reasons why Ahsoka will eventually understand that there is no point in trying to change the past because she would only make things worse.
Of course, one of the things that fans thought was that Ahsoka would open up an entire multiverse of different timelines by entering the World Between Worlds. Fans want this to happen because not everyone loved the direction of the Star Wars sequel trilogy. And by opening the possibility of multiple timelines existing, the Star Wars lore might see a soft reset.
But the thing is that these were all debunked. There won’t be a multiverse in the entire Star Wars universe, and that means that it is unlikely that Ahsoka will open up multiple timelines by traversing the World Between Worlds. It’s only possible that this scene with Anakin on Mustafar will be a lesson for Ahsoka to understand that there is no point in changing the past, especially when doing so actually led to the death of a close friend in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
