Following the news regarding upcoming superhero projects can sometimes be very frustrating, mainly because the studios don’t often provide official statements and announcements (well, not as much as we’d like to), and there are dozens, literally dozens of sources in the industry and across the internet who can say million different things. Some sources have gained a good reputation to be more trustworthy than others, but still, there are many cases in which multiple sources can contradict each other, and who to trust then?

You don’t need to be a hardcore DC fan to know that DC Studios, with James Gunn and Peter Safran as its leads, is currently working on DCU, an upcoming soft-reboot cinematic universe that will replace the ongoing DCEU, which will conclude this December with ‘Aquaman the Lost Kingdom.’ We know that DCU won’t be a hard reboot since the franchise will continue some storylines and keep some characters from DCEU, but no matter how many times Gunn tried to explain things, the situation is still as complicated as it gets.

Is ‘Wonder Woman 3’ in development? Gal Gadot says yes, but news outlets say no!

While promoting her newest movie, Netflix’s ‘Heart of Stone,’ Gal Gadot was asked about her future as Diana Prince, also known as Wonder Woman. Even though we know Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck won’t return as Superman and Batman in DCU, there was never any official statement about Gadot possibly returning as Wonder Woman in DCU. James Gunn also said that Gal wasn’t let go like Cavill was due to the fact that Cavill didn’t fit into his vision for the upcoming Superman movie.

Gadot said that she talked with Gunn and Safran and said that they would work on the next ‘Wonder Woman’ movie after Gunn rejected Patty Jenkins’ original script, and Jenkins refused to rewrite it to fit the movie into DCU’s narrative. Recently, Gadot teased her Wonder Woman future again in an interview with Flaunt.

“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop ‘Wonder Woman 3’ with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

Gal Gadot Reveals ‘Wonder Woman 3’ Is Still in Development After All

This interview was published earlier today. However, only a few hours later, Collider and Variety reported that their sources close to the situation claimed that Gadot was never really promised to return as Wonder Woman in DCU. Both reports agree that Safran and Gunn have no plans about any Wonder Woman content in the near future apart from the ‘Paradise Lost,’ an upcoming prequel series that Gunn announced earlier this year, and it’ll serve as the prequel to the original Wonder Woman movie.

Looking at the situation, it’s clear here that, while it may be a hard word, someone here is lying. Either Gadot is overconfident that she’ll play Wonder Woman again once DCU replaces DCEU, or she knows something that the mentioned sources don’t. We aren’t saying either of those two sides is truthful or not, but it’s hard to be smart in this situation. Of course, we can’t expect that DC Studios will provide an official statement to sort it out, and Gunn, as much as he loves to answer fan questions on social media, is still silent about this.

After launching her career in Hollywood through the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise, Gal Gadot rose to fame when she debuted as ‘Wonder Woman’ in 2016’s ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.’ She reprised the role in two standalone ‘Wonder Woman’ movies in 2017 and 2020, as well as both versions of ‘Justice League’ in 2017 and 2021. This year, she made two cameo appearances as Wonder Woman in ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ and ‘The Flash.’ Today, she’s one of the most known and highest-paid movie stars today.
