One of the most iconic superheroes of all time is Superman, who has always been the poster boy of what it means to be a superhero in terms of his superpowers and personality. After all, he has been around for almost 100 years already and has inspired countless people across generations in the many decades that followed ever since he first appeared on the pages of some of the greatest comic books ever.

As such, there can be no arguing against the fact that the Man of Steel has some of the greatest quotes in the history of comic books. Superman’s heroism and bravery inspired some people, and that’s why they can remember some of the most notable lines he has ever said in the comics and even in the movies. So, with that said, let’s look at the best Superman quotes from the comics and the movies.

Best Superman quotes from the comics

1. “If you knew how you are loved, not one of you would raise a hand in rage again.”

One quote that says a lot about Superman’s love for Earth and its people is this quote. Of course, it also says a lot about one of Superman’s friends, Tommy Monaghan, who he was actually very fond of because he always found a way to lift Supes’ spirits whenever he was down and sad.

So, when Superman found out that Tommy was a hitman, he flew above Earth to see how beautiful this planet was. He loves the people of Earth and knows that they can be better people whenever they try to be better. As such, his quote can be directed at Tommy when he says that he wouldn’t raise his hand in rage again if Tommy only knew that he was loved. Of course, Supes was also referring to the people of Earth when he said this quote.

2. “Taking lives is something I definitely find offensive!”

Throughout his entire life, Superman always tried to make sure that he didn’t take other people’s lives, regardless of whether they were good or bad. In that regard, he was someone who always tried to make sure that he pulled his punches so that he wouldn’t kill people no matter what they did.

So, when Superman faced HIVE, one of its members yelled that Superman would never kill them. Superman told them that he was right in saying that he would never kill them because he believed that taking lives is one of the most offensive things that anyone can do. And that’s why Superman has always tried to make sure that he doesn’t take a life.

In one of the most emotional moments in the comics, Superman told Manchester Black, a powerful anti-hero, that he didn’t have the luxury to throw his morality out in the garbage just because life was tough. This was because Manchester, a powerful character with psychic abilities, was disgusted about the fact that Superman wasn’t willing to kill. He was some sort of a hero himself, but killing was not out of Manchester Black’s reach.

In their fight, Black chastised Superman for how pointless he thought his moral compass was. Nevertheless, Superman told him that throwing his morality out was never an option for him, no matter how hard life turned out to be. And this should apply to everyone because no one should ever do evil things if life becomes too tough.

4. “You’re wrong… I can see your soul.”

Lex Luthor has always been Superman’s biggest enemy because of the fact that he always tried to find a way to make Superman’s life a living hell. Despite his lack of superpowers, Luthor was the antithesis of Superman because he had a different perspective on life.

Nevertheless, in one of the comic book series, we saw a different perspective on Lex Luthor. We can see him on a deeper level in this storyline instead of seeing him as someone just jealous of Superman’s capabilities. He and Superman had a morality argument, and that was when Supes told him that he could see through his soul and was able to see him for what he truly was.

5. “Why am I so different from them?”

One of the things that we know about Superman during the earlier part of his life was that he was someone who wanted to fit in. He struggled to find his place on Earth because he knew he was different and had powers and abilities that made it more difficult for him to fit in with society.

In that regard, he always wondered why he was so different compared to other people, not only in terms of his powers and abilities but also in the way that he saw the world. And this was a vulnerable Superman that wanted to be like other people but understood that he had gifts that gave him a huge responsibility over the people of the planet.

6. “There is a superhero in all of us. We just need the courage to put on the cape.”

Even though Superman knows that he has powers and abilities that make him exponentially stronger than everyone else on Earth, he also knows that his powers do not make him a superhero. Instead, he understands that the willingness to put on the cape and become a superhero is what makes him a superhero.

So, with that, he also knows that anyone else can be a superhero in their own right as long as they are brave enough to stand up and put on a figurative cape. Superman knows that the only way for the Earth to be a better place is for everyone on it to act like heroes in their own unique way.

7. “I’m here to fight for truth and justice.”

The thing about Superman is that he doesn’t fight for the sake of fighting. Fighting and beating up criminals and villains isn’t a hobby that entertains him. Instead, he fights for life’s bigger and more important things, such as truth and justice.

Superman understands that the world needs people that can stand up for the truth and for what’s right. In that regard, he fights for everyone in the world, especially those who don’t have the power to stand up for what’s right and just.

And the thing that people need to understand is that as long as they are doing good things in life, the haters shouldn’t bring them down.

In Superman’s case, he has faced a lot of doubters and haters in his life. But he always found a way to lift himself up so that he could stay strong no matter what his problems were. And this allowed him to face any problems without doubts in his heart.

9. “You’re much stronger than you think you are. Trust me.”

We know that Superman is one of the strongest superheroes of all time and has always been able to defeat villains using his physical strength. But the thing about Superman is that he is not only physically strong but also mentally and emotionally strong. It is his inner strength that has allowed him to defeat the strongest opponents that a superhero can face.

So, because of that, Superman understands that people can be stronger than they are, regardless of whether or not they have superpowers. Everyone can be stronger as long as they believe that they have what it takes to be strong.

10. “There is a right and a wrong in the universe. And the distinction should not be hard to make.”

In the ‘Kingdom Come’ storyline in the comics, an older Superman is trying to cope with the fact that the world has been taken over by dangerous young superheroes that didn’t know what they were doing. Superman wanted to retire to a life of farming, but he was forced back into action when he saw what the younger heroes were doing.

So, in trying to make sure that the superheroes were doing the right thing, Superman gave one of the most passionate speeches that he gave out to find a way to convince the next generation that they needed to be peaceful. He said that everyone knows what is right and wrong in the universe and that they should be able to choose what’s right. After all, throughout his entire career as a hero, Superman always tried to make sure that he did what was right.

11. “To catch them if they fall.”

In one of the Justice League of America storylines, one of the things that the members of the JLA were questioning was the very purpose of the group’s existence after they struggled against the White Martians that posed as a new heroic team. They couldn’t prevent people from hurting one another due to the things that were happening around the planet.

So, when Wally West asked what was the point of everything and why the people needed them, Superman told him that the purpose of the Justice League was to catch people if they fell. It’s a perfect way for him to show that he was always going to be there for everyone if they needed him to be there.

12. “We have no powers, there are millions of them, and there’s a child in there who needs us to save the world. Let’s go.”

In a storyline involving the dangerous Starro the Conqueror, Starro attempted to take over the planet by infiltrating the dreams of every person on it. However, a young boy named Michael was able to resist Starro while he was hoping that the Justice League would save him.

To defeat Starro, the League entered the Dreaming so that they could find a way to save Michael without the use of their powers. Nevertheless, Superman, against all odds, wanted to prove the boy’s fate in the Justice League by fighting hard to save him. He wanted to make sure that, despite not having powers, he could still be a hero in the eyes of those who believed in him.

14. “The ‘amazing’ can only be created by facing fear, risk, and failure during the process.”

Superman knows that everyone can achieve amazing things in life, especially when it comes to ordinary people. It might be true that Superman can do amazing things, but he also knows that he is only able to achieve amazing things due to the fact that he understands how to face his fears and how to risk things for the sake of what he wants to achieve.

In that regard, he knows that ordinary people can also be capable of doing amazing things as long as they are willing to face their fears. They can also do amazing things as long as they make sure that they know how to recover from failures whenever they fail. After all, doing amazing things is a step-by-step process that everyone has the capacity to go through.

15. “Dreams save us. Dreams lift us up and transform us.”

One of the things that we know that Superman does is that he is fighting for a better world, even though he himself knows that doing so is never easy. That’s why he has to maintain a goal or dream that makes it worth the effort to fight for something good. But while fighting for a dream can be difficult, Superman represents the importance of fighting for a dream.

So, in his fight with Manchester Black, Supes said that dreams are capable of saving and lifting people up to transform them into better people. As such, dreaming for a better world is what allowed Superman to keep on going. And he knows that people like Black can also be better as long as they have dreams that they want to fight for.

16. “Do your worst, Luthor. Do it forever. I won’t break.”

So, during that storyline, Superman was able to fight through Lex Luthor’s torment to prove that he was human. He proved himself to be a mentally strong individual that wasn’t going to succumb to Lex Luthor’s mental torture just because he had experienced tragedies in the past. And he believes that he became stronger due to these tragedies, as he understood that he now has the strength to face them again after going through them in the past.

17. “I once thought I could protect the world by myself. But I was wrong.”

We know that Superman is one of the strongest superheroes in the pages of DC. But while that may be true, he still understands that there is no way that he could protect the world by himself. He originally thought that he could protect everyone all on his own. But it was through working together with other people that he eventually understood the importance of working with others.

That was why Superman valued working together with the other members of the Justice League, as he admitted to them that he needed their help and that he couldn’t protect the world all on his own. As such, Superman eventually understood the value of working together with people who also had the same goal of protecting the world from villains.

Superman has always been one of the superheroes that believed that people had a chance to reform and change their ways. Of course, that’s the reason why he doesn’t kill, as he believes that every person deserves a second chance in life and to redeem themselves.

Of course, the thing about Superman is that he believes in his friends as well. He knows that his friends and allies are just as capable of redemption as anyone else in the world. That’s why, as much as possible, he will give his friends a chance to redeem themselves in case they end up making mistakes.

19. “I believe that if we stay together, as a team, we would be a force that could truly work for the ideals of peace and justice.”

We know that Superman is someone who learned the value of working together with other people. Of course, that’s because he knows that he cannot protect everyone all on his own, especially if there are other people who are just as willing and as capable of protecting the world. And that’s why he values his alliance with the Justice League.

Superman wants to stay together with his teammates and allies because he knows that they can all do good together as long as they are together. And he also knows that they can truly reach their goals in life as long as they work together for peace and justice.

20. “So many of our dreams seem impossible, they seem improbable, and then, when we summon the will, they soon become inevitable.”

When it comes to dreams, there are a lot of them that tend to be very difficult to achieve and reach, especially if the odds are against the person. But no dream is impossible to reach if the person has the will and the ability to summon the mental fortitude to work harder to reach a big goal.

In that regard, Superman has always believed the importance of mental toughness and fortitude when it comes to reaching dreams. He understands that every single person in the world has the ability to summon the will that’s necessary for them to make their dreams inevitable.

21. “It’s not about where you were born or what powers you have, or what you wear on your chest. It’s about what you do… it’s about action.”

We know that Superman is strong because he was born a Kryptonian on Earth and that he has the ability to do things that other people aren’t capable of. But while that may be true, he knows that a person’s powers and abilities are second only to the things that a person is willing to do. Action is more important in determining a person’s fate.

So, when Superman fought Superboy-Prime, he says this quote to convince his enemy that there is more to being Superman than the “S” symbol on his chest. He knows that being Superman is not about the powers and abilities that he has. Instead, it is a person’s actions that determine whether or not they are worthy of being called Superman.

22. “If the word ‘super’ is to be applied to anyone, it should be applied to all of you, to all mankind.”

Superman works as a reporter for the Daily Planet using his secret identity of Clark Kent. Even though the common people don’t know that he is Superman, Clark Kent wrote a story that allowed him to express how he thought that human beings were worthy of being called ‘super.’

In that regard, Clark Kent was telling people that they are more super than he could ever be because he understands the different problems and troubles that humans go through on a regular basis. So, even if humans call Superman’ super,’ Clark understands that humans are more ‘super’ than him because being human is very difficult.

Superman fought against these creatures in an attempt to protect the citizens of a Mars colony. But he realized that people were losing hope.

24. “It was Krypton that made me Superman, but it’s the Earth that makes me human.”

It’s true that Superman is strong because he was born a Kryptonian with abilities that far surpass what normal humans are capable of. But what he knows is that he only became who he is because he was born on Earth. As such, he understands that he would never have become the person that he became if he had been born elsewhere.

So, even if he didn’t have his powers, Superman was still himself because he was raised as a human being with the heart of a hero. And that’s why he will always be an inspiring figure that can make people do more than what they are capable of, as he himself is more than willing to give everything that he can give to help people out.

25. “What’s so funny ’bout truth, justice, & the American way?”

There are a lot of different dark storylines involving our favorite DC superheroes, and Superman also has his own dark storyline. In that storyline, he had to face a moral dilemma wherein he faced the metahumans called the Elite, whose best way to deal with any threat was through murder.

So, when people started doubting whether or not Superman’s peaceful ways could still help the world, that was when Supes showed the world that there was nothing wrong with his way. He showed people that there was nothing wrong with being peaceful. In fact, along with his love for humankind, Lois Lane has always been one of the people that motivated him to become a better version of himself every single day. And that’s why he values Lois more than anything else in his life.

In All-Star Superman, the Man of Steel needed to leave the planet for a mission that required his absence. As such, he had to leave the love of his life. While it was a tough choice for him to make, he needed to leave Lois because it was what he needed to do at that very moment. And that was when he told her how much he loved her.

Even though this quote may look simple, the thing about it is that it is actually one of the quotes that perfectly embody the kind of person that Superman is. And it’s going to make sense if you look at the way that we explain what this quote means.

In one comic book storyline, Superman was trying to keep Regan, a gothic teen, from jumping off a building as he told Regan that she was stronger than she was. Superman embraced her and told her that things were never as bad as they seemed. This was one of the ways that Superman was able to help other people. 30. “It’s going to happen, people are going to talk, and that’s great. If people are talking, they’re being entertained in one way or another, so carry on.”

Even though Superman understands that he is a hero that most people love, he also understands that not everyone is willing to embrace his existence. He knows that people are always going to talk about him and every other superhero on the planet and that some of the things that they say aren’t necessarily nice.

In that regard, he understands that the best way for him to tackle this problem is by simply allowing people to talk. It is best to carry on because people are always going to talk. And as long as people are entertained by talking, it’s easier to carry on and continue doing what he needs to do.

31. “Only the weak succumb to brutality.”

Even though we know that Superman is one of the strongest heroes of all time, one thing that makes him special is his ability to restrain himself from doing more than he should be when facing an enemy. He knows that he can brutalize any enemy if he can, but he chooses not to do so because he is stronger than that.

In that regard, Superman believes that only weak people would easily succumb to brutality. Those who don’t have the mental fortitude and the discipline to restrain themselves would brutalize people with their power. However, those who can control their mental state and their physical strength are the strongest.

He can sometimes be boastful when it comes to his strength and abilities, and we can understand that as long as we know that he controls his powers.

The thing is that there are some instances wherein Superman can actually take things a bit too far. This is quite common in universes wherein Superman becomes a bit too abusive with his power. As such, those versions of Superman tend to be controlling in a lot of different ways because they know that they can do anything.

34. “I don’t know what hole you crawled out of or where you came from, but I’m sending you back!”

So, whenever he is fighting some of the most hellish creatures imaginable, Superman knows that the only way for him to win is by literally sending them back to where they came from by either beating them so hard or actually killing them. And this only happens whenever he is facing creatures that are truly evil and mindless.

35. “What’s special about Superman is that he will always make the right choice.”

Superman Red Son

What makes Superman special is not his power. He isn’t special because he can do almost anything he wants to do. Instead, Superman is special because he knows that he can make the right choice no matter what the situation is.

People admire Superman not for his strength but for his ability to make the right choices. He knows what’s good and bad, and that’s why he always makes sure to do things that are good. 37. “Nobody has the right to kill… not you… not Superman. Especially not Superman.”

The best thing about Superman is his ability to control his emotions and to make sure that he doesn’t kill people. He knows that he has the power to kill and is basically strong enough to rule over the entire planet. But at the same time, he knows that this is a responsibility that he has to carry in a righteous manner.

In that regard, he acts as a good example by making sure that he doesn’t kill people. He knows that no one has the right to kill, and that means that Superman shouldn’t kill so as to make sure that those who look up to him also know that they don’t have the right to kill. And once Superman kills, that’s when all morality goes out the window because that’s when people start to think that they can kill others as well.

38. “It’s not an S, in my world, it means hope.”

While we often look at the ‘S’ on Superman’s chest as a symbol that represents his name, the thing is that it actually means something more. To the common person, they look at the ‘S’ symbol as a letter that stands for ‘Superman.’ But on Krypton, it stands for hope.

Of course, the moment that people see this symbol on his chest, they are already hopeful because they know that Superman will do anything to save the day and help people out. So, while some people may not be aware of what the ‘S’ stands for, they are still filled with hope whenever they see it.

39. “The welfare of Earth and all the people will always be my primary concern.”

There are a lot of things that Superman can do as a superhero, but the thing is that the only thing that he prioritizes above anything else is the welfare of the people of Earth. He knows that it is his responsibility to protect the planet from any villain or threat. And that’s why there is nothing that comes before the safety of the people of the planet.

This is why Superman is often called one of the most selfless people in the world of comic books, as he will always prioritize the safety of the people of Earth over anything else. After all, Earth is his home and is the very same planet that made him into what he is. And that’s why he has to protect the people of Earth no matter what.

40. “Working together, we saved the planet.”

Even though we know that Superman is a one-man army that can destroy entire cities all on his own and decimate armies without help, he understands the importance of working together with other people.

We are not talking about other superheroes here because Superman also understands the importance of working together with regular people who are willing to make a difference. Of course, working with superheroes allowed him to defeat other villains. But he knows that working with regular people who are more than willing to chip in can also make a big difference when it comes to saving the planet.

41. “I thought I had to leave to find out who I was…but it turns out I only needed to learn where I came from. Because I already know who I am. I’m a man who knows the benefit of hard work and honesty. A man who knows the difference between right and wrong. A man who can help people all over the world. I’m Clark Kent.”

It’s kind of a surprise that Superman himself has some identity issues, and that’s something that fans may not realize. This isn’t something that can be seen on the surface, but the truth is that he needed to find out more about himself because he doesn’t know if he’s Superman or if he’s Clark Kent.

To that end, he needed to leave Earth to do so, and that’s why he was able to find out who he was. He realized that he knows that he’s someone who knows what’s the difference between right and wrong and that he’s a person who knows that he can help people in different parts of the world. He is both Clark Kent and Superman.

42. “Remember, son: follow truth, seek justice, and stand with your family who loves you. Even when they’re not perfect.”

Superman has always been someone full of wisdom, and that’s why children and adults can learn from him and his words. In that regard, even your children can learn from what Superman has to say regarding family. That’s because Superman values his family, even if they’re not perfect.

So, with that said, we know that there’s no such thing as an ideal family, as no family is ever perfect. But the thing is that no family has to be perfect as long as they are loving and caring. And that’s why children can learn a lot from Superman, who understands the value of family and the people who treat him as family.

We know that Batman and Superman have their own differences and own turfs. Batman has Gotham, whereas Supes has Metropolis. But there are instances wherein they have to work together, such as when Supes needs to go to Gotham.

Of course, Superman doesn’t like Gotham because it seems like the polar opposite of the more progressive Metropolis, which doesn’t have the same kind of dark and gloomy atmosphere that Gotham is known for. And this is an accurate assessment of Gotham on the part of Superman because it bred the likes of Batman, who is darker and gloomier than Supes.

44. “Don’t let a few bad apples spoil our American pie.”

In one of the comic book storylines, there was a terrorist that caused havoc, and that was why Batman and Captain Atom considered killing this villain. Nevertheless, Superman was the first to warn them against killing this terrorist because they are the faces of America. In that regard, they need to make sure that they don’t spoil the image of America by killing villains.

So, even if they were facing an underrated DC villain, Superman still had enough discipline and control to make sure that neither he nor his companions killed this villain. And he has to advocate for peace because he knows that the rest of America looks up to him.

45. “I know it’s somewhat immodest to say this, but I love being me.”

Yes, Superman can sometimes be boastful and immodest, and that means a lot because he has always been one of the humblest superheroes on the pages of comic books. But the truth is that it’s actually great to be a superhero with the same kind of powers and abilities that Supes has.

In that regard, Superman loves being himself not only because he has amazing abilities but also because he loves helping people out and being of service to others. And it is through his powers that he is able to help a lot of different people throughout the world.

Best Superman quotes from the movies

46. “You will be different, sometimes you’ll feel like an outcast, but you’ll never be alone.”

Every version of Superman in the movies experiences feeling like an outcast due to the fact that they all have something in common, and we’re talking about the fact that Superman isn’t human despite the fact that he grew up on Earth. Because he has powers and abilities that no other human being possesses, he can feel like someone who doesn’t belong on the planet where he was raised.

But despite the fact that he feels like an outcast on his own planet, Superman still knows that it is the fact that he is different that makes him responsible for all of the different people on the planet. And that’s why he understands his role on Earth.

47. “I never drink when I fly.”

One of the best scenes in the original Superman movies was when Superman was flirting with Lois Lane, who asked him out for a drink. However, Superman jokingly replied by telling Lois that he doesn’t drink and fly. And while we aren’t sure whether or not alcohol affects Supes in the same way as it does a regular human, we know that no one should ever fly under when intoxicated.

In that regard, Superman still acts as a good example by saying that he shouldn’t fly under the influence of anything that could impair his senses. Of course, it is possible that alcohol doesn’t affect him. But the important part is that he understands his responsibility.

48. “I grew up in Kansas, general. I’m about as American as it gets.”

Here’s Why Batman Hates Superman

Henry Cavill’s Superman is a fan-favorite character because he portrayed a grittier version of Superman. Nevertheless, he still understands his role as an American icon despite the fact that the government doubts his status as an American.

In that regard, he told General Swanwick that he is as true of an American as any other American out there due to the fact that he grew up in Kansas. And we all know that he grew up in a rural area in Kansas after the Kent family adopted him when they found his ship decades ago.

49. “Glad to be here, Lois.”

One of the things that we know about ‘Man of Steel’ is that it ended on a somewhat soft note despite how intense the movie was. In that regard, Clark Kent was now ready to live a double life in the city of Metropolis after he defeated General Zod and saved the entire planet from the evil Kryptonians that wanted to kill every human being.

Kent decided to work for The Daily Planet, as he greeted Lois Lane with his quote. Of course, because he was in love with Lois, he was happy to be working for the same company that she was working for.

50. “Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city; good people living in fear.”

During the events of ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,’ we saw how serious the film’s tone was and how we could see both Batman and Superman going at it in terms of the things they believed in. The movie may have been a bit too dour for some fans, but it did have its good points.

One of the heaviest lines that we saw in the movie was this quote because of how serious it was and how Superman was basically telling Bruce Wayne that Gotham wasn’t the same as Metropolis in the sense that Batman’s city was full of people that were being trampled on by criminals. And this allows us to see just how different Superman is compared to Batman and how they both have different ways of handling the villains of their respective cities.

51. “Something wrong with the elevator?”

We know that Superman has the power to levitate without the need to use any kind of device. In that regard, he can easily move through the air without even causing any noise, and that was why he was able to surprise a burglar that was climbing the walls of a tower in the original Superman movies.

Superman jokingly asked the burglar if there was something wrong with the elevator because he was scaling the walls instead of using the conventional method of going up a building. This was a great scene in terms of how Superman can actually introduce jokes into what should be a serious matter.

52. “He thinks he’s above the law.”

We know that Clark Kent wasn’t fond of Batman in ‘Batman v Superman’ due to the fact that they operated in entirely different manners and in cities that were so different from one another. The one thing that Superman didn’t like about Batman was the fact that he can sometimes be too brutal when handling criminals.

In that regard, Superman believed that Batman thought that he was above the law because he operated in a manner that didn’t sit well with the Man of Steel. Nevertheless, we can’t blame Batman for the things that he does as a vigilante because he doesn’t have superpowers and is operating in one of the most dangerous cities in the world.

53. “I hope you don’t expect me to save you because I don’t do that anymore.”

The third installment of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies allowed us to see a grittier and eviler version of Superman in the sense that he had lost the will to actually rescue and help people out. And that’s because his mind was corrupted.

So, in one of the scenes of that movie, the corrupted version of Superman actually told someone that he no longer rescued people. And while it was wrong for him to say that, this was a refreshing take on Superman because it allowed us to see a flawed character that wasn’t perfect.

54. “Stay down! If I wanted it, you’d be dead already!”

One of the most well-executed lines during the events of ‘Batman v Superman’ was this one, which Superman delivered in his fight with Batman. Bruce was wearing a mechanized suit that he thought was going to be strong enough to hold its own against the Man of Steel. But it turned out that the difference between him and Superman was far too wide.

In that regard, Supes beat Batman up and told him to stay down because he could have actually killed him if he wanted to. But Batman, as relentless as he was, continued to fight as he knew that he had a trump card in the form of a Kryptonite spear.

55. “Next time they shine your light in the sky, don’t go to it. The bat is dead. Bury it. Consider this mercy.”

During the events of ‘Batman v Superman,’ we were able to see one of the best scenes involving the two characters as Batman’s Batmobile slammed into Superman in an intense scene wherein the Man of Steel suggested to Bruce that he stop working as a vigilante.

That’s because Superman never liked the way that Batman handled his vigilante work, as he operated in a manner that was far too different from how Superman operated. That was why Supes was quite serious when he told Batman to stop whatever he was doing and to consider retiring as a vigilante. And this line was kind of a threat from Superman, who was basically telling Batman that he wouldn’t go easy on him next time.

56. “Easy, miss. I’ve got you.” – Superman

“You – you’ve got me? Who’s got you?” – Lois Lane

We’ve always liked the dynamic between Superman and Lois Lane because the Man of Steel was always going to be there to save the woman that he loved. However, while Lois may act like a damsel in distress in most cases, she understands that even Superman needs some rescuing every now and then.

So, when Superman rescued Lois from danger, the reporter was quick to ask him about the fact that he also needed someone to watch his back. To some extent, Lois was right because even someone like Superman needed someone else to be there to watch his back and protect him from threats that he couldn’t see.

57. “Perry, when you assign a story, you’re making a choice about who matters. And who’s worth it.”

It was in ‘Batman v Superman’ that we got to see Clark Kent actually working for The Daily Planet. Of course, he wasn’t shy about discussing his moral views with his boss. And that was why there were discussions regarding ethics in this movie.

So, when it comes to ethics, we saw how Clark was willing to talk about his ethical views regarding the stories that The Daily Planet rights. He told Perry himself the fact that the stories they write as reporters actually allow them to decide who matters in a certain story. And that’s why this was an interesting discussion between Clark and his boss.

58. “No one stays good in this world.”

Back in ‘Man of Steel,’ we saw how Superman was actually struggling to find his place. However, in ‘Batman v Superman,’ he had already decided his place as a superhero in a world that he thought needed him. Nevertheless, he still struggled with his place because there was a possible transition to the dark side, especially with the different visions that Batman saw about Superman ruling the world with an iron fist.

So, when Superman said that no one stays good in this world, it was a gritty line that made fans wonder whether or not the writers of this movie understood Superman. But we all know that not all versions of Superman in the comics were good, and that’s why Snyder may have wanted to explore a darker side of Superman by making him struggle between choosing between being good in an evil world and trying to make the world good by being bad.

59. “All those things I can do. All those powers. And I couldn’t even save him.”

In the original Superman movies, we saw just how emotional Superman was when it came to the things that he regretted in his life. He may be the strongest person on the planet, but not even his strength was enough to save the people that he loved the most.

In that regard, Superman was robbed of another parent figure in his life as he asked himself what the purpose of his powers was if he couldn’t even save the people that mattered the most to him. Nevertheless, it was the fact that he lost people in his life that made him want to do good in the world, as he didn’t want others to lose the people that they loved.

60. “A man I knew used to say that hope was like your car keys: easy to lose, but if you dig around, it’s usually close by.”

During the events of the ‘Justice League’ movie, we saw Superman in only a few scenes because the film explored the other members of the League. However, there were still memorable lines that Superman delivered incredibly well despite the fact that the spotlight wasn’t on him a lot.

In one scene, Supes was talking to two boys who asked him about how many people he saved and whether or not the ‘S’ on his chest really stood for hope. He responded to the boys and told them about his father, who told him that hope is always close by, even if you end up losing it a few times in your life.

61. “The police won’t help; the press has to do the right thing.”

Even when he was working as a reporter, Clark Kent was still able to find a way to fight for justice. One of the things that we learned was that he was being manipulated by none other than Lex Luthor, who wanted Superman to see Batman as a villain. As such, Clark saw that Batman was putting the entire city of Gotham in a deranged state due to his vigilantism.

But the thing about Clark was that, instead of putting on the cape and confronting Batman, he was able to find a way to get to him by penning an article on The Daily Planet to get Bruce’s attention. In that regard, he was telling Batman that it was the job of the press to tell the truth about the things that were happening in Gotham. And this was Clark’s peaceful way of trying to make Batman see the folly in his ways.

62. “You’re a monster, Zod. And I’m going to stop you.”

During the events of ‘Man of Steel,’ we were able to see just how monstrous General Zod can be in terms of his goals for Earth and what he has in store for the people of the planet. Superman, however, was successful at destroying his terraforming machines, and that forced Zod to attempt to destroy all of humankind to make Superman suffer for destroying his goal of bringing back the glory of Krypton.

In that regard, this was no longer just a mission to stop Zod from turning Earth into Krypton. Instead, it was now a personal quest to try to stop Zod from killing the people of Earth for his own pleasure. Zod had gone too far, and that was why Superman needed to stop him.

63. “I guess I’m just going to have to trust you.”

When Superman defeated Zod, he became the newest hero of the planet. However, the problem was that the government was afraid of him as he was just as strong as the same aliens trying to destroy the planet. That was when Superman let General Swanwick know that he was only there on the planet to help Earth on his own terms and that the general needed to convince the government that he was not a threat.

So, when Swanwick asked why they would listen to Superman, that was what prompted the Man of Steel to respond that he would just have to trust him in the same way as the government just needed to trust him. This shows just how willing Superman was when it came to trusting the people of Earth because he himself wanted the people of Earth to trust him.

64. “I hear everything. You wrote that the world doesn’t need a savior, but every day I hear people crying for one.”

One of the things that we know about Superman is that he has the ability to hear sounds at a level that’s exponentially higher than what humans are capable of. That means that he can hear sounds from miles away and that he can hear things that normal humans aren’t capable of hearing.

Nevertheless, when Lois wrote that the world didn’t need someone like Superman to save people, that was when Superman said that he could hear people crying for help every single day. That means that the world needed him to be there as a savior because he couldn’t continue on with his life while hearing people calling for help every single day.

65. “You will be different, sometimes you’ll feel like an outcast, but you’ll never be alone. You will make my strength your own. You will see my life through your eyes, as your life will be seen through mine. The son becomes the father, and the father becomes the son.”

The thing about Superman is that he has always felt different when he compares himself to the people of Earth. He grew up just wanting to fit into society, but he realized that he wasn’t like everyone else. Nevertheless, he used his difference as a way to help people all over the world as he realized that he had a responsibility to Earth because of his powers.

So, with that said, he understood that he could sometimes feel like an outcast, but he also felt that he was never alone because he was always there to help other people who saw him as their source of strength and inspiration.

66. “You’re scared of me because you can’t control me, but that doesn’t mean I’m your enemy.”

During the events of ‘Man of Steel,’ the people of Earth arrested Superman to turn him over to Zod because the Kryptonian general wanted to use Clark’s genetics to revive the dead people of Krypton. In that regard, we saw how Superman was able to easily break the handcuffs that were supposed to keep him neutralized. And he was able to intimidate the military without even trying.

Superman told the military officers that he understood why they were afraid of him as they didn’t have a way to control him. But he assured them that he wasn’t their enemy and that he was on the side of Earth in that fight against General Zod and the other Kryptonians.

67. “They wanted me back for a reason. I have to figure out why.”

During the events of ‘Justice League,’ we saw just how the League struggled without Superman on their side as they didn’t stand a chance against Steppenwolf. That was why they tried to bring Superman back from the dead after he died in the fight against Doomsday in the previous movie. However, Superman woke up an angry man when the League members revived him.

After Superman got his wits back due to Lois Lane’s intervention, he left the scenes and reunited with Martha Kent. In that wholesome scene with his mother, he decided to join the Justice League because he understood that there was a good reason why they brought him back from the dead. And it turned out that he was the big gun that the League needed in the fight against Steppenwolf.

The truth is that, while we all want to be Superman because of his powers and abilities, he doesn’t live an easy life. That’s because he has to make sure that his true identity remains a secret to the public as he doesn’t want to involve his loved ones in his affairs as a superhero.

As such, Superman has to live his entire life keeping secrets. This has affected his personal life in different ways because he can’t easily live Clark Kent’s life while forgetting about his responsibility to the rest of the world as Superman. And the fact that he has to keep everything a secret is what eats him from the inside.

69. “Well, you know, things change. Well, of course, things change. But some things that you thought wouldn’t change could change. Take Lois. A woman like her, I never thought she’d settle down.”

During the events of ‘Superman Returns,’ we saw how Clark Kent was affected by the news that Lois Lane was now ready to settle down with a different man. Of course, people were wondering how Clark would take this news.

In that regard, Clark responded in a manner that was quite positive. He said that he needed to embrace change because changes were constant in the world. And there are always things that would change even though you thought that they would never change.

70. “Krypton had its chance!”

In the battle with General Zod during the events of ‘Man of Steel,’ Superman was basically given a choice between saving Earth and saving the people of Krypton. But because he realized that Zod wanted to kill everyone on the planet to save the people of Krypton, that was when Superman chose to side with Earth.

In Superman’s words, Krypton already had its chance to survive but fumbled that chance years ago when the Kryptonians caused their own downfall. As such, there was a good reason why Superman chose Earth, as the people of Earth weren’t given much of a choice in this matter involving Zod and his quest to destroy the planet.

71. “Not impressed.”

During the events of ‘Justice League,’ we saw that the heroes were up against a lone villain in the form of Steppenwolf, who was strong enough to give all of the other members of the League a tough time but was far too weak compared to Superman. So, when he finally faced the Man of Steel, Steppenwolf was surprised by the fact that the gap between them was so huge.

Of course, Superman was not impressed by this villain. That’s because the two villains that he fought in his last two movies were far stronger. General Zod was at least on Superman’s level, whereas Doomsday was strong enough to kill the Man of Steel. In comparison, Steppenwolf was child’s play.

72. “Well, maybe it was hard to say goodbye because he had to go and… he wanted to say goodbye, but… maybe it was too difficult for him.”

In ‘Superman Returns,’ Clark Kent and Lois Lane had a lot of different moments that were heartfelt and sincere. Of course, Lois wasn’t aware that Clark was Superman when they were talking to each other. And Lois tried to ask Clark about a matter involving the Man of Steel.

That was when Clark told Lois that there must be a reason why Superman left. He was basically telling Lois that saying goodbye was far too difficult for him to do, and that’s why he never said goodbye when he left.

73. “You are my world.”

Superman’s love for Lois Lane is one of the purest kinds of love that we’ve ever seen, and we know that a good part of his life revolved around his love for her. But Clark still realized that prioritizing the safety of the world was more important. And that’s why he decided to sacrifice himself to defeat Doomsday in their fight.

But before he sacrificed himself in an effort to defeat the powerful villain, Superman told her that he was his world because he thought that he would never see her again. This was the best way for him to tell her how much he loved her as he was about to go out as a true hero that was willing to put his life on the line for other people.

74. “Been here for 33 years, doctor. Haven’t infected anyone yet.”

One of the funniest moments of ‘Man of Steel’ came when the different people of Earth were kind of worried about the fact that Superman was an alien. To that end, one of the doctors wondered whether or not Superman could be carrying an alien pathogen that could infect other people.

So, in a lighthearted way, Superman told the doctor that he had been on the planet for more than three decades already but was yet to infect anyone. He was basically saying that he had no alien pathogens in his body because he should have already infected other people if he was carrying some sort of virus.

75. “I’m surrendering to mankind. There’s a difference.”

During the events of ‘Man of Steel,’ we saw that General Zod demanded the people of Earth to surrender Superman to him because he had the DNA of all of the Kryptonians in his body. Of course, Superman did the right thing by surrendering himself to the US military, which was supposed to hand Superman to the Kryptonian invaders. He even allowed himself to get handcuffed to make the military feel more secure.

However, Superman said that he wasn’t surrendering to Zod or to the military. Instead, he was surrendering to mankind because he thought that giving himself to Zod would help keep the people of Earth safe. But we all knew that Zod wasn’t sparing mankind because he was about to terraform the planet and turn it into Krypton. And that’s why Superman had to engage the Kryptonian general in battle and destroy his world engines.
