MCU Movie & Show Featuring Kang the Conqueror in Order

Kang the Conqueror (and his many variants) are obviously going to be a huge problem with the MCU going forward. Kang is the sinister temporal warlord, so hellbent on conquering all of the multiverse that he needed to be exiled to the Quantum realm in order to be stopped, and if the rest of his variants within the MCU are anything like their comic book counterparts, they are far more evil and scheming then he is.

Kang the Conqueror (and his variants) have been featured in two MCU projects so far, and his story is only going to be expanded from this moment forward. This is why we decided to put together this guide: to explain all of Kang’s appearances so far as well as to explain how exactly they are connected within the bigger MCU narrative.

MCU movie & a show featuring Kang the Conqueror in release date order

Kang the Conqueror, or rather his variant, first showed up in the ‘Loki’ series released in 2021. Following the death of He Who Remains, Kang resurfaced in ‘Quantumania’ both as a villain and as a warning. He again resurfaced in ‘Loki’ season 2 leaving a cryptic warning to Loki that he can’t be replaced, only he can and he was. If you don’t really have the time to check out all MCU movies & shows and search for references to Kang and his many variants, these are the projects that you need to be on the lookout for:

  1. ‘Loki’ Season 1 (2021)
  2. ‘Ant-Man & the Wasp: Quantumania’ (2023)
  3. ‘Loki’ Season 2 (2023)

Now, I understand that this sounds like a random list that contains a single movie and a TV show, but fear not. In the rest of this post, we’re going to explain how exactly Kang’s appearances are connected.

Please note that the rest of the post will contain spoilers so read at your own risk.

Are all Kang’s MCU appearances connected? What’s the best order to watch them in?

All Kang’s appearances within the MCU are connected, and all are set within the same continuity; therefore, the best way to watch them is in their release date order.

Kang’s first appearance in the MCU wasn’t as Kang the Conqueror. It was his benevolent variant, Nathaniel Richards, aka He Who Remains. Soon after getting arrested, Loki figured out all about the Sacred Timeline, about the TVA’s mission to purge branched timelines and the utmost necessity of keeping He Who Remains alive in every single timeline, and there’s a good reason for that, the one that Loki and the rest of the MCU would soon find about when Sylvie Laufeydottir killed He Who Remains.

Immediately, something changed, and since the Sacred Timeline has been modified on such a deep and profound level, changes were visible immediately. This is what brings us to the ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania’ that was released in 2023. In ‘Quantumania’ Scott Lang and the rest of the Ant-Man family dive into the Quantum realm following his daughter’s disappearance, and there they come across Kang the Conqueror himself.

Kang turns out to be the main villain of the movie. However, he does warn Scott that if he kills him, he will deal with versions of him far more threatening than himself. We get a glimpse of that in mid-credits scenes when we get a brief look at the Council of Kangs consisting of Immortus, Scarlet Centurion, and Rama-Tut, all Kang variants hellbent on controlling time.

Kang Variant, Victor Timely also appeared in ‘Loki’ season 2 as one of the integral parts who was supposed to replace He Who Remains. Then, He Who Remains appeared in the last episode of the season after which he was replaced by the God of Stories Loki when he replaced Temporal Loom with Yggdrasil.

If it sounds complicated, you should be aware that it is. Multiverse is a great opportunity to basically absolve yourself of every possible plot hole and chuck them up to the Multiverse concept; however, as additional variants of Nathaniel Richards are being added, it’s only going to get more confusing to pick up on.

Both Kang’s MCU appearances in chronological order

MCU, for the most part, has a straightforward timeline that only gets confusing on some parts that are either filled with plot holes or headcanons of fans themselves. However, isolating Kang’s appearances in the MCU, we can’t say that those happened in chronological order and it therefore looks like this:

  1. ‘Loki’ Season 1 (2021)
  2. ‘Loki’ Season 2 (2023)
  3. ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ (2023)

Without giving out too many spoilers, let’s just say that Mobius confirmed in the finale of ‘Loki’ Season 2 that ‘Quantumania’ takes place after the events of Season 2.

Where to watch the above-mentioned movie and show?

You can watch all of Kang’s MCU appearances on Disney +, which is a well-known home to all MCU and Marvel-related content. You can watch the shows and the movie with an active subscription. The most basic package starts at $7.99 a month.

Will there be more movies & shows featuring Kang the Conqueror?

There will be more MCU projects featuring Kang the Conqueror or, rather, featuring his variants. We know that the Council of Kangs will play a huge role in the rest of the MCU going forward. One upcoming phase six movie even bears his name ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty.’ Everything points to Kang the Conqueror or Council Kangs being to the MCU what Thanos was for the majority of the first three phases.

Here’s Who Could Replace Jonathan Majors as Kang

Additional issues arise with the actor portraying Kang and the variants as well. As everyone is probably aware at this point, Jonathan Major was accused of harassment and truly worrying behavior almost immediately after the release of ‘Quantumania.’ The allegations have led the fans to assume that he will be recast, but nothing of the sort has happened as of yet, with Disney most likely waiting for the legal conclusion to the entire drama to make a decision. ‘Kang Dynasty won’t be released any time soon.
