A Little History

A former officer of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro is one of the most deadly adversaries in all of DC Comics. As a member of the Green Lantern Corps, Sinestro and the control he had over his space sector was unmatched. He was able to keep law, order, and peace within his territory like very few could.

While a member of the Corps, he undertook an apprentice by the name of Hal Jordan. Hal was chosen by the Green Power Ring that belonged to the now deceased Abin Sur. As the two began to work together, he grew tired of Hal’s tactics and the way in which he kept peace in Sector 2814 (Earth). After their time on Earth came to an end, he had to return to his own Sector. Unfortunately, because Hal had not completed his training, Hal traveled with him.

Now back on Korugar, Hal gained a firsthand lesson in how he was able to keep the peace. While most thought it was due to his abilities as a Lantern, it was actually through fear, slavery, and death. Hal, along with the inhabitants of Korugar, fought Sinestro so as to regain some semblance of freedom. After his defeat, Sinestro returned to Earth and Hal quickly followed.

As the two arrived, they were caught and brought to Oa (the home of the Lanterns) and Sinestro faced trial for the events on Korugar. A guilty verdict was given and he was stripped of his ring, power, and everything else associated with being a Lantern. He was then sentenced to the Anti-Matter Universe of Qward.

While there, he created a new power ring out of yellow, or the color most detrimental to the Green Lanterns. With his new look, he quickly became the most treacherous villains the Lanterns had ever faced.
