Just like the previous episode, ‘Ahsoka’ episode 5 has its fair share of easter eggs, especially because it takes a good look at the past of none other than Ahsoka Tano herself. But the thing about episode 5 is that it has more easter eggs when it comes to the different things that we saw during the Clone Wars. And that’s because there was a scene wherein Ahsoka was taken back to the time when she was still learning under Anakin Skywalker as a Padawan.

In that regard, these easter eggs came flying in quickly and were actually recognizable to the die-hard fans of the Star Wars animated universe. Some fans might not have recognized these details, but they were surely clear to those who watched ‘The Clone Wars.’ Let’s look at all the easter eggs we saw in ‘Ahsoka’ episode 5.

1. Leia Organa has been helping Hera

One of the things that we know about Hera Syndulla is that she went to Seatos on an unsanctioned mission, as the Senate didn’t want her to go chasing after the ghosts of Thrawn and Ezra without even confirming whether or not they really were alive. In that regard, she still went to help Ahsoka and Sabine because she understood that they needed her help.

However, one of the things that was shown in episode 5 was that Senator Leia Organa has been helping her from behind the scenes. We know that Leia and Hera are familiar with one another because they met during the Rebellion. And Leia has been the one delaying and stalling the Senate to ensure that Hera had enough time to assist Ahsoka even though her mission was never sanctioned.

2. Kanan Jarrus was mentioned

Hera and Huyang were at a dead end while they were trying to look for Ahsoka and Sabine. That was when Jacen told his mother to listen to the waves from the sea. He specifically told her that he could hear lightsabers clashing like Ahsoka’s duel with Anakin Skywalker in the World Between Worlds. In that regard, it was clear that he was sensitive to the Force and could sense what was happening to Ahsoka.

Of course, Hera trusted her son and sent out a search party for Ahsoka. Carson Teva asked what was going on, and that was when Huyang said that Jacen had special abilities because his father was Kanan Jarrus, a Jedi Knight. This was the only time Kanan’s name was mentioned in the first five episodes of ‘Ahsoka.’

3. Clone Wars Ryloth Campaign

After Ahsoka could defend herself against Anakin’s initial attacks in the World Between Worlds, Skywalker broke the floor as Ahsoka came crashing down. Upon waking up, she found herself in her young form when she had just been assigned to become Anakin’s Padawan. They were in the middle of the Clone Wars, and Ahsoka was wondering what was happening.

Anakin appeared and led the clones to battle, all while Ahsoka was still visibly confused about what was happening at that very moment. She remembered that this was one of the first missions that she undertook with Anakin. And when Twi’leks were shown in the background after the battle, it was clear that this was the Ryloth Campaign.

4. Anakin’s Jedi armor

During the events of ‘The Clone Wars,’ especially the series’ first few seasons, the Jedi were also given their own armor while leading the clones against the Separatists. As such, prominent Jedi Generals, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker, wore armor instead of the traditional Jedi robes they often wore to battle.

When Anakin was shown during the middle portion of the Ryloth Campaign scene in ‘Ahsoka,’ he was clearly wearing his Clone Wars Jedi armor. Moreover, his hair also matched the one that we can see during the earlier portion of ‘The Clone Wars,’ as it was clear that every little detail was covered to make Hayden Christensen look like his animated counterpart.

5. The Siege of Mandalore

A few scenes after the Ryloth Campaign was shown, Ahsoka was shown in the middle of another battle. This time, it was the Siege of Mandalore that she was in. We could clearly see the Mandalorians that she was fighting as she confirmed to Anakin that they were indeed in the middle of the Siege of Mandalore, which was the battle that Ahsoka fought after she and Anakin parted ways near the end of the Clone Wars.

In that regard, the battles in which Ahsoka took part in this spiritual journey with Anakin’s ghost were the ones that were quite important to her growth as a character. That’s because the Siege of Mandalore was the final battle that she participated in before her master’s fall to the dark side and the destruction of the Jedi Order.

6. “Mauldalorians”

While Ahsoka was fighting in the Siege of Mandalore in that scene, we could see some Mandalorians wearing distinct helmets that weren’t similar to what they usually wore. Often called the “Mauldalorians,” these Mandalorians were called the super commandos when Maul ruled Mandalore as its shadow leader.

Of course, while Maul wasn’t featured in this episode, it was nice to see that his Mandalorian super commandos were featured. These Mandalorians were the ones who were loyal to him while he was occupying Mandalore during the Siege of Mandalore.

7. Captain Rex’s live-action debut

After Ahsoka fought off a few Mandalorians during the Siege of Mandalore flashback scene, we saw her commanding Captain Rex to lead the troops further. This was the first time Captain Rex was featured in a live-action Star Wars series.

Captain Rex is often considered the greatest clone trooper in history due to his importance during the events of the Clone Wars. He is also quite close to Ahsoka and was the clone who accompanied her to Mandalore during the Siege of Mandalore.

8. Anakin’s Sith eyes

Ahsoka and Anakin discussed legacy during the Siege of Mandalore scene. However, Ahsoka denied her part in Anakin’s legacy as an angered Skywalker was furious when his Padawan reminded him of how dangerous he was due to his fall to the dark side. Anakin prepared to engage Ahsoka in a fight after reminding her that he gave her a choice to either live or die.

After Anakin ignited his lightsaber, his eyes were clearly yellow, signifying that this was Darth Vader instead of Anakin. The eyes were that of a Sith Lord’s, and it was one of the things that clearly differentiated Jedi Knight Anakin from Darth Vader Anakin.

9. Red lightsaber Anakin

When Anakin’s dark side surfaced, we could see him igniting a red lightsaber instead of the usual blue one we used to. The only time that we ever saw him using a lightsaber was when he was already in his Darth Vader suit, as he never used a red lightsaber before he got burned on Mustafar.

This version of Anakin was clearly what Palpatine wanted when he turned him to the dark side. Of course, Obi-Wan robbed Palpatine of this version of Darth Vader as the emperor was left with nothing but a shell of what Anakin would have become if he had never lost his limbs and got burned.

10. Ahsoka’s “Gandalf the White” transformation

After Ahsoka passed her test in the World Between Worlds and finally became a true Jedi Knight, she woke up in the real world and was fished out from the sea by Hera’s allies. She woke up around a day later feeling renewed after her spiritual journey.

Ahsoka started wearing white clothes after that, as this was a symbol of her transformation. It is also one of the parallels between her and Gandalf of ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ as it was always clear that she was a character inspired by Gandalf’s transformation from the Grey to the White after he went through a similar spiritual journey.

11. Psychometry

Ahsoka learned that Hera and the others were yet to find Sabine. Upon finding the broken starmap, she had an idea to use it to learn what happened to her apprentice. Ahsoka used a Jedi skill called psychometry, which basically allows her to hear Force echoes or memories from a certain object.

Psychometry is a rare Jedi skill that we’ve only seen a few times in Star Wars. Quinlan Vos was one of the few people gifted with his ability. Of course, the strongest user of this ability was Cal Kestis, who used it a lot of times in the ‘Star Wars Jedi’ video games.
