Star Wars: Here’s Where Darth Vader Is Buried

‘Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith’ – 2 Minutes

In the final installment of the prequel trilogy, we finally get to see Anakin’s turn to the Dark Side.  We technically only see him in the suit for roughly two minutes, but even though he turns to the Dark Side in the film’s final act, he’s not considered Darth Vader until after his battle with Obi-Wan on Mustafar.

‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ –  8-10 Minutes

The first time Disney ever used Darth Vader was in ‘Rogue One, ‘ and he was not wasted at all. While he was not a major villain in the movie, the scenes we got with him established that even when Vader is present, his presence is felt throughout the Empire. We also can’t forget that fantastic hallway sequence at the film’s end, showing how ruthless and powerful Vader is.

‘Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope’ – 8 Minutes

You may be surprised to hear that although he was the movie’s main villain, Vader had less than 10 minutes of screen time in his first appearance. Despite being barely in the film, he had a major impact on audiences at the time. We first see him at the start when he interrogates the Rebel Soldier about the Death Star plans and then later during his duel with Obi-Wan.

‘Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back’ –  12 Minutes

Darth Vader is the perfect example of less being more. In the sequel to ‘A New Hope,’ he only gets an additional four minutes of screen time. However, this was probably one of Vader’s most memorable appearances. During his limited appearance in the film, Vader drops one of the biggest bombshells in cinema history: that he is Luke Skywalker’s father.  During the events of this film, Vader is always in control, and even though his time is limited, he is always a looming presence over the heroes.

‘Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi’ – 14 Minutes

With Vader being in ‘Return of the Jedi’ for 14 minutes, his total screen time in the original trilogy is 34 minutes. As much as the Sith Lord shows up in the original movies for just over half an hour, the original Star Wars trilogy solidified him as one of the most iconic villains ever.

How much screen time does Darth Vader have in the TV shows?

Vader has appeared in both ‘Star Wars Rebels’ and ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ filling the gaps between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy.

‘Star Wars Rebels’ – 10 Minutes

One of the biggest surprises of ‘Star Wars Rebels’ was the appearance of Darth Vader. Not only did we get to see the Sith Lord in action, but James Earl Jones returned to voice the character.

During his time in the show, Vader faced Ezra and Kanan multiple times and finally fought his former apprentice, Ahsoka Tano. After the second season, the show focused more on Grand Admiral Thrawn, but that didn’t stop them from mentioning Vader, showing how his presence is still felt in his absence.

‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ – 20 Minutes

Fans were both confused and excited to hear that Darth Vader would return in ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi.’ Not only did James Earl Jones return to voice him, but Hayden Christensen would be wearing the armor. Vader was the main villain of the series, and we, as the audience, got to see a lot more of him than usual.

He had two battles with Obi-Wan, and we also got to see flashbacks to Order 66. The show gave us some impressive feats with Vader, like him holding a full ship with the Force, giving the fans yet another glimpse of Vader in his prime.

Going forward, this article will contain spoilers for ‘Ahsoka,’ read at your own risk.

Did Darth Vader appear in ‘Ahsoka’?

While we technically saw Darth Vader in ‘Ahsoka,’ it was still just Anakin Skywalker. Due to him being the Chosen One and Darth Vader for half of his life, he can still jump between the dark and light even when he is in death.
