Will Luke Skywalker Appear in ‘Ahsoka’? Here’s What We Know So Far

We all know that the storyline of ‘Ahsoka’ takes place during the era of the New Republic, or somewhere around five years after the fall of the Empire. In that regard, Luke and the other heroes of the Rebellion were still very much alive during this timeline and were still at the prime of their lives. So, in that regard, Luke Skywalker is still around and is the strongest Force user in the galaxy at this point in time. So, does that mean that Luke will appear in ‘Ahsoka’?
There is nothing concrete about whether or not Luke Skywalker will appear in the ‘Ahsoka’ series. While we do know that Ahsoka and Luke are already familiar with one another, there hasn’t been anything confirming or hinting at the possibility that Luke would appear in a series that focuses on Ahsoka’s journey.
One of the most important things about the storyline of Star Wars is that different events that happened in the past tend to be linked to future events. Of course, we know that the events of ‘Ahsoka’ will likely affect the future, especially regarding the rise of the First Order. But we really aren’t sure how Luke is involved in all of this. Now, let’s look at the possibility of Luke appearing in the ‘Ahsoka’ series.
Ahsoka and Luke are familiar with one another
When we found out in ‘The Mandalorian’ season 2 that Ahsoka Tano was still alive during the New Republic era, fans wondered if Ahsoka and Luke Skywalker were aware of each other’s existence. After all, Ahsoka was one of the few Jedi who lived during the time of the Jedi Order and was actually the Padawan of Luke’s father. And Luke was one of the greatest heroes of the Rebellion.
But in ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ it was revealed that Ahsoka and Luke were already previously familiar with one another. When Din Djarin visited Grogu on Ossus, where Luke was looking to rebuild his Jedi Order, Ahsoka was already there to greet him. In a separate scene, we also saw Ahsoka having a good conversation with Luke, as it was clear that they had already previously met and were quite familiar with one another.
This dispenses the need for fans to wonder if Luke actually knew who Ahsoka was. The fact that they were familiar with one another is a good reason to believe that they knew that they could rely on one another if they needed to call upon each other for help. As such, this is where fans are wondering whether or not Luke could make an appearance in the ‘Ahsoka’ series.
Luke has been busy rebuilding the Jedi Order
During the events of ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ the one thing that was made clear was that Luke was still in the middle of rebuilding the Jedi Order. His droids on Ossus were working hard to build the foundations of his Jedi Temple. But while Luke was trying to rebuild the Jedi Order, he still lacked students.
Grogu was supposed to be the first of his students in his Jedi Order. Of course, we know that Luke previously trained Leia, only for her to leave her training behind due to her personal issues. And that’s why Luke thought Grogu would be his first student.
But the thing about the scenes involving Luke and Grogu was that Luke was making him choose between his attachment to Din Djarin or his devotion to the life of a Jedi. Luke knew what attachments could do to a person, so he still stuck to the old Jedi belief that those with attachments wouldn’t be able to become good Jedi. Of course, Grogu chose to be a Mandalorian instead.
So, as Ahsoka was trying to find a way to prevent the return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, it was clear that Luke was still trying to rebuild his Jedi Order. It is possible that he was too focused on building the Jedi Temple on Ossus, but he was also possibly still honing his skills as a Jedi to become a true Jedi Master.
In other words, there was a good reason for Luke to be preoccupied when Ahsoka was quite preoccupied with the Imperial remnants. And that is why we are yet to hear any mention of Luke’s name in the ‘Ahsoka’ series.
Luke’s involvement with the New Republic was minimal
One of the things that we also know about the New Republic is that it didn’t have a really good relationship with Luke’s Jedi Order. During the time of the Old Republic, the Senate and the Jedi Order worked together in almost any kind of situation. In fact, the Jedi found it difficult to function without the Senate’s approval.
But we know that both the New Republic and Luke are trying to fix some of the mistakes that they saw in the Old Republic. For one, the New Republic has distanced itself from militarization and even the Jedi Order due to the things that happened in the past. Meanwhile, Luke was more focused on building the foundations of his Jedi Order instead of inserting himself and his Jedi in the affairs of the New Republic.
As such, there was a much clearer separation between the government and the church during the New Republic era. The New Republic, due to its fears of militarization, didn’t even recognize the First Order as an actual threat. And that was the reason why the New Republic Senate didn’t give the Resistance the support necessary to defeat the First Order.
So, it only becomes more likely that Luke hasn’t been concerned with what the New Republic has been doing since the fall of the Empire. Luke’s focus is on the Jedi Order, whereas the New Republic focuses on helping different systems rebuild themselves after the fall of the Empire. This is what makes it plausible that Luke hasn’t been involved in the problems concerning Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Imperial remnants, as he didn’t have the necessary force or the support of the New Republic to try to prevent the revival of the Empire.
Here’s why it makes sense for Luke to appear
While there are many reasons why Luke has yet to appear in any major event in the New Republic era, there are still some reasons to believe that he could still appear during the events of the ‘Ahsoka’ series. And this is because Ahsoka needs all the help that she can get.
When Ahsoka left the known galaxy to venture into another galaxy, where she believes Sabine and Ezra are, Hera was left to fix her problem with the New Republic and convince the Senate that Thrawn and the Imperial remnants were still threats to the security of the New Republic. Of course, we know that the New Republic ignored the rise of the First Order, which means that Hera’s pleas will likely fall on deaf ears again.
So, if that’s the case, Hera and Ahsoka would need to gather all of the help they can get their hands on, and that includes not only the prominent characters of ‘Rebels,’ ‘The Mandalorian,’ and ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ but also the characters who they know are still willing to fight for the sake of the peace of the galaxy regardless of whatever the politicians believe.
This is where Ahsoka can contact Luke, who would be more than willing to ensure that the Empire’s darkness would never threaten the galaxy again. But then again, Luke’s cameo appearance seems too big for a series that should focus on Ahsoka Tano.
As such, if Luke were to make another appearance during the New Republic era, the likely scenario or event is the upcoming Mando-verse movie that’s going to wrap up the events of ‘The Mandalorian, ‘Ahsoka,’ and the other storylines that take place during this timeline. It would make sense for Luke to try to offer his help to Ahsoka and the other people looking to prevent Thrawn and the Imperial remnants from threatening the galaxy.
