One of the questions that fans often have about the events of ‘Ahsoka’ and how it all fits in the greater timeline of the New Republic era is whether or not it takes place before, during, or after the events of season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian.’ Of course, some fans believe that it takes place concurrently. I always believed it takes place after ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3 due to certain factors.
Of course, this debate went on for a while until episode 7 of ‘Ahsoka’ finally proved the fact that the series does indeed take place after ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3. The man who proved this was Captain Carson Teva. So, with that said, let’s look at how Carson Teva proved that ‘Ahsoka’ takes place after ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3.
The timeline debate
It was never a secret that Star Wars fans don’t always get along and that there are always online discussions and debates regarding the different things that can be seen in the Star Wars lore. Of course, one of the newest debates related to Star Wars is the exact placement of ‘Ahsoka’ within the greater timeline of the New Republic era, especially in relation to the series’ relation to timeline of ‘The Mandalorian.’
The timeline debate regarding where ‘Ahsoka’ takes place when compared to ‘The Mandalorian’ was brought about by the fact that there was never a true explanation for when the series takes place and where it falls in the New Republic era. We only know that it takes place sometime after 9 ABY.
Of course, fans know that ‘Ahsoka’ takes place after season 2 of ‘The Mandalorian’ and season 1 of ‘The Book of Boba Fett’ because Ahsoka Tano was featured in both of those. Meanwhile, in season 2 of ‘The Mandalorian,’ Ahsoka defeated and apprehended Morgan Elsbeth. We know that the first episode of ‘Ahsoka’ allowed us to see Elsbeth breaking out of prison with the help of Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati.
But some fans weren’t sure whether or not ‘Ahsoka’ takes place before, during, or after season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian.’ That’s because this was never cleared out. Some fans believe it occurs concurrently with ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3. However, I personally believe that it takes place after that season due to certain factors.
Whatever the case may be, fans often had different reasons for wanting to believe what they wanted to believe. And this left people wondering where exactly ‘Ahsoka’ belongs in the timeline, especially when compared to the events of ‘The Mandalorian.’
Carson Teva brought up Moff Gideon
Lucky for all of us, episode 7 of ‘Ahsoka’ finally ended the debate about whether or not ‘Ahsoka’ takes place during or after ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3. And it all had something to do with none other than Captain Carson Teva, who we saw investigating Moff Gideon’s movements and actions in season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian.’
In episode 7 of ‘Ahsoka,’ General Hera Syndulla was on Coruscant to discuss in front of the Senate Oversight Committee her unsanctioned mission on Seatos. Senator Hamato Xiono was against Hera the entire time and tried to find ways to discredit the different findings she gathered on Seatos. Xiono dismissed everything as nothing but fantasy while also inferring that Hera was trying to advance her career on that unsanctioned mission.
Nevertheless, Carson Teva arrived and brought up the issue related to Moff Gideon on Mandalore. For those who may have forgotten, Teva investigated the movements of the different Imperial remnants in the Outer Rim and even near Mandalore. He discovered that the Imperial remnants were still active and must have acted under a grander plan. And he learned from Din Djarin that Moff Gideon was responsible for the events that were happening in Mandalore.
We eventually saw Carson Teva flying together with Hera on their mission to Seatos. Of course, while this was an unsanctioned mission, Teva had every reason to accompany Hera because he knew that the Imperials were still at large and that there must be something bigger than Moff Gideon brewing on Seatos.
Of course, now that Teva was aware of the things that Gideon did when the Imperial leader was on Mandalore, Carson was quick to bring this up to the Senate Oversight Committee by telling Xiono that Moff Gideon was proof that the Imperial remnants were still active. Nevertheless, true to his nature as a politicking sleemo, Xiono dismissed any concerns regarding Gideon as the actions of a single Imperial warlord.
Whatever the case may be, Carson Teva’s testimony in front of the Senate Oversight Committee is proof that the events of ‘Ahsoka’ takes place after the events of ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3. After all, he wouldn’t have been able to tell the Senate about the actions of Moff Gideon on Mandalore if the events of ‘Ahsoka’ happened concurrently with the events that took place between the Mandalorians and Gideon’s faction over at Mandalore.
