As we all know, the entire ‘Ahsoka’ series has been a treasure trove of different easter eggs due to how the series creator, Dave Filoni, has been deeply involved in the Star Wars lore ever since he first started working on ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ in 2008. In that regard, it goes without saying that there have been a lot of different easter eggs inserted in the ‘Ahsoka’ series.

Episode 7 of ‘Ahsoka’ is no different, as quite a few easter eggs were present in this series. This may be the series’ penultimate episode, but it hasn’t been short on easter eggs. So, with that said, let’s look at all of the easter eggs we saw in episode 7 of ‘Ahsoka.’

1. Carson Teva references Moff Gideon

The opening scenes of episode 7 allowed us to see Hera Syndulla explaining to the Senate her actions on Seatos and why she went on an unsanctioned mission. Of course, her biggest enemy in the Senate, Senator Hamato Xiono, tried to dismiss everything she said and even told her that she was just doing everything she did for her personal gain.

Captain Carson Teva quickly defended Hera by bringing up the Moff Gideon incident on Mandalore as proof that the Imperial remnants were still active. While Xiono dismissed Teva’s evidence, his statement proves that ‘The Mandalorian’ season 3 happened before the events of ‘Ahsoka.’

2. C-3PO cameo

Shortly after Xiono started dismissing everything that Hera tried to argue regarding the threat of the Empire and the possible return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, a familiar voice could be heard. Suddenly, C-3PO appeared, bearing good news for the sake of Hera and all of the other Defense Fleet officers who went with her.

In this short 3PO cameo, the droid brought data about the fact that Hera’s mission was not unsanctioned but was actually sanctioned by none other than Senator Leia Organa, who was the leader of the Defense Committee. 3PO also went on to say words that ultimately shut Xiono’s opposition up.

3. Senator Leia Organa’s role

In connection to the previous item on this list, we said that C-3PO went to Hera’s hearing so that he could present important data regarding Hera’s mission on Seatos. Back in episode 5, we learned that Leia was the one who was delaying the Defense Fleet from interfering with Hera’s mission.

Then, in episode 7, 3PO said that Leia was the one who sent him to the hearing so that he could tell the Senate that she had sanctioned this mission. Leia also told Xiono through 3PO that his opposition should be coursed directly through her. As such, Leia was instrumental in shutting Xiono during the proceedings.

4. Anakin’s recordings

After Hera’s hearing, the scene shifted to Ahsoka’s ship as she prepared to arrive on Peridea. We could see her training with her lightsabers as she was clearly warming herself up for a possible rematch with Baylan Skoll. The one guiding her while she was training was a holographic recording of Anakin Skywalker back in the Clone Wars.

This isn’t new because we saw in ‘Star Wars: Rebels’ that Ahsoka was also watching one of Anakin’s recordings. Ezra even said that he used his recordings to hone his skills with the lightsaber. In ‘Ahsoka,’ Ahsoka told Huyang that Anakin made many of these recordings, impressing the droid in the process.

5. Grievous, Ventress, and Dooku were referenced

Again, Anakin’s recordings were done during the Clone Wars. He made those recordings for Ahsoka to continue to train under his guidance even when they were apart. Of course, Anakin made a lot of references to the characters who were quite prominent during the Clone Wars era.

Anakin mentioned that Ahsoka could go up against the likes of General Grievous, Asajj Ventress, and even Count Dooku, which was why she needed to be prepared. This was the first time in the ‘Ahsoka’ series that any of those three characters were mentioned.

6. Where is Zeb?

Meanwhile, the scene shifted to the Noti caravan on Peridea as Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren caught up with one another. Sabine told Ezra about how the Empire lost and how it was said that the emperor was killed during the Battle of Endor. But the one thing that fans wanted to hear was Zeb’s name.

Zeb has been absent from the entire series even though some of the most notable ‘Rebels’ characters have already appeared. Of course, we saw Zeb back in season 3 of ‘The Mandalorian’ as a New Republic Defense Fleet member. The truth was that Zeb was actually too busy to appear in the series. Sabine told Ezra that Zeb was busy training new recruits.

7. Thrawn’s familiarity with Anakin Skywalker

Thrawn always wanted to learn everything about his enemy because knowing his enemy allowed him to predict their next move. In that regard, he wanted everything there was to know about Ahsoka Tano because they never met back in the events of ‘Rebels.’ And upon learning that Ahsoka was the Padawan of Anakin Skywalker, Thrawn suddenly changed his approach.

That’s because Thrawn was familiar with Anakin as they once worked together during the events of the Clone Wars. Of course, they also worked together during the Imperial era as Thrawn was one of the few people aware of Darth Vader’s true identity as Anakin Skywalker. As such, after finding out that Ahsoka was Anakin’s Padawan, he changed his tactics because he understood that Ahsoka could be just as unpredictable and bold as her master.

8. Ezra’s unarmed combat mastery

Shin Hati and her mercenaries attacked the Noti caravan, and it was up to Ezra and Sabine to defend them. Sabine tried to give Ezra his lightsaber back, only for him to reject it and tell Sabine that it was now her lightsaber. Of course, Ezra was also quick to say that the Force was the only ally that he needed.

He showcased his mastery of the Force and his excellent skills in unarmed combat. This is a nod to the fact that the Jedi were once trained to master unarmed combat instead of just focusing on lightsaber combat. And Ezra’s mastery over unarmed combat allowed him to fight Shin on par.

9. ‘Rebels’ Ezra is still in there

Ezra and Sabine successfully defeated all the bandits that came with Shin. That was when it became a two-on-one affair until some of Thrawn’s reinforcements arrived to surround the duo. Shin was quick to order the Night Troopers to destroy Ezra and Sabine.

True to his nature as a comedic character, Ezra stalled and told them that they could maybe talk things over and take them as prisoners instead, all while Sabine had a confused look on her face. This was consistent with the ‘Rebels’ Ezra, who we knew was someone who had a good sense of humor.

10. Thrawn playing the long game

At the end of the day, Thrawn won even though he failed to destroy Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine. And that’s because he was willing to play the long game and control every single variable to ensure he had the upper hand.

Thrawn controlled every variable (except Baylan’s questionable disappearance) from the start, allowing him to have a favorable result at the end of the short skirmish with the Jedi trio. Baylan’s absence may have cost him an outright victory, but he got the one thing he wanted from the very start: to delay Ahsoka Tano. Thrawn’s ultimate goal was not to destroy Ahsoka, Ezra, and Sabine but to buy enough time to complete the preparations for his departure. And he succeeded in doing so at the very end.
