Marvel has blessed fans with a ton of incredible characters over the years, ranging from powerful superheroes to deadly supervillains, and even characters who dance the line as the storyline unfolds. Although Marvel Comics has been around for many years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe took things to an entirely new level.

With so many awesome in-universe figures, including humans, gods, and mutants, it can be pretty hard to keep track of each character’s age and development. Below is everything you need to know about the main MCU characters’ ages, birthdays, heights, weights, and more. For the sake of simplicity, we will be focusing on the main characters featured in the most well-known storylines within the MCU. As such, we will be excluding characters from the X-Men saga, The Eternals, and others, despite these storylines being included within the overall MCU timeline.

What do we know about the MCU characters’ birthdays?

The birthdays that have been mentioned above refer to each Marvel character’s known birthday within the original comics. The MCU was initially labeled as an alternate timeline (Earth-199999) back in 2008 with the MCU’s debut, compared to the main Marvel Comics continuity (Earth-616), which is also known as “The Sacred Timeline” among fans.

However, it’s assumed that the characters would share birthdays with their comic book counterparts – especially considering the number of connections that have been made between the two timelines. Since the comics and MCU share many primary settings and details, many believe the characters should at least have the same origins when compared to Marvel Comics.

What do we know about the MCU characters’ ages?

Considering that many of the most powerful Marvel superheroes are not human at all, some of their ages can reach figures in the thousands. Certain characters were subject to the Snap time skip that occurred when Thanos wiped out half of the universe in Avengers: Infinity War.

All in all, the main MCU timeline covers around 20 years at least, excluding certain cases such as The Eternals or Captain America, who only wakes up in 2011. The Snap changed quite a lot, and some figures disappeared – losing around 5 years while others continued aging during that time.

Iron Man’s age in the MCU

Anthony Edward Stark was born in Manhattan in 1970. Based on his birthday, Iron Man would have been around 48 years old during the Snap, and 53 years old at the time of his official death on October 17, 2023. Considering he’s one of the most iconic superheroes out there, many fans hope Iron Man somehow returns to the MCU in future titles!

Spider-Man’s age in the MCU

Peter Parker was born in 2001 and was only 11 years old during the Chitauri invasion. He primarily acted as a lone wolf when starting his crime-fighting career, but Spider-Man joined the Avengers in the battle against Thanos at the age of 17 years old.

He was one of the most notable victims when Thanos caused the Snap. Although Peter Parker returned to screens in Avengers: Endgame, much to many Marvel fans’ relief, he had disappeared for 5 years and was still 17 years old.

Spider-Man would have been 22 years old if not for the time skip, and he continued to age to 18 or 19 years old within the Spider-Man titles that were released following the Avengers saga. Since Spider-Man is still around within the MCU universe, it’s believed that he would have aged to approximately 21 years old off-screen.

The Hulk’s age in the MCU

Robert Bruce Banner was born in 1969 in Ohio, eventually gaining his Hulk abilities in 2005 by dousing himself with gamma radiation while working on Captain America’s Super Soldier Serum. Bruce may have a ton of superhuman abilities, but he still ages in the same way humans do.

He is believed to have been around 48 years old during the Snap and 53 years old during the final battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. At the time of writing, it’s believed that Bruce Banner would have aged to around 56 years old off-screen and would have been the Hulk for over 20 years to date.

Captain America’s age in the MCU

Steven Grant Rogers was born in New York City way back in 1918, making him the eldest human Avengers member. He was transformed into a Super Soldier at the age of 27 years old, after which he was frozen for around 66 years.

He woke up in 2011 after being kept in a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility and is believed to have been around 98 years old in Captain America: Civil War, 100 years old in Avengers: Infinity War, and 105 years old in Avengers: Endgame. That being said, Steve Rogers still had the mind and body of someone in his early 30s.

Once Thanos was finally defeated, Steve Rogers decided to end his crime-fighting career to pursue his true and lost love. Steve Rogers used Pym particles to travel back to 1949 and live out his natural life with Peggy Carter, passing on his shield to the Falcon.

Falcon’s age in the MCU

Samuel Thomas Wilson was born in 1978, meaning that he would have been 40 years old in Avengers: Infinity War. Falcon was a victim of the Snap, being resurrected at 40 years old in 2023 after which he took on the mantle of Captain America and aged to around 43 years old in-universe.

War Machine’s age in the MCU

James Rupert Rhodes was born in 1968, and he has not experienced fluctuations in his aging process – either due to the Snap or time travel. At the time of writing, it’s believed that War Machine is around 55 years old.

Black Widow’s age in the MCU

Natalia Alianovna Romanoff was born in 1984 in Stalingrad, Russia, after which she was sold to the Red Room and trained as a spy under the KGB. Doing the math, Black Widow would have been around 33 years old at the time of the Snap, aging to 39 years old before her shocking death on October 16th, 2023.

Hawkeye’s age in the MCU

Clinton Francis Barton was born sometime in the 1970s, meaning that his exact age is still subject to speculation in the MCU. Since there’s very little information regarding Hawkeye’s origins and backstory, fans believe that he has a similar age to Black Widow and would be in his late 40s or early 50s.

Thor’s age in the MCU

Thor Odinson was born to Odin and Frigga in Asgard between 964 A.D. and 965 A.D., making him the eldest of all the Avengers members. He died on June 2nd, 2010, before being revived by Mjolnir.

MCU: Here Is Why Tony Calls Thor “Point Break”

Since he still ages uniformly, it’s believed that Thor was around 1054 years old when the Snap occurred in 2018 and 1059 years old during the battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame – although, he mentions being around 1500 years old back in Avengers: Infinity War, so there’s still room for debate (depending on whether or not his statement is considered canon).

Thor is still alive and well within the MCU (relatively speaking, considering that he went through a ton of ups and major downs within Thor: Love and Thunder). Disregarding the comment made by Thor concerning his in-universe age, it’s believed that Thor would now be 1062 years old within the MCU timeline.

Loki’s age in the MCU

Loki Laufeyson is one of the most iconic anti-heroes ever created, being the God of Mischief as well as the adopted younger brother of Thor. He was born in 965 A.D. and is believed to have been around 1047 years old during the Avengers saga.

While there’s still debate regarding Loki’s exact age, he is believed to have been 1053 years old at the time of his death, and it’s believed that the new variant of Loki that appeared in Avengers: Endgame is around 1047 years old (this timeline would technically make Loki the younger brother by a few years instead of a few months).

Valkyrie’s age in the MCU

Brunnhilde, more commonly known as “Valkyrie,” does not have a reported date of birth within the MCU. Although fans do not know exactly when she was born, it’s believed that she is much older than Thor and Loki, with an average age of at least 5000 years old.

Star-Lord’s age in the MCU

Peter Jason Quill was born in late 1980, making him 34 years old during Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. He was a victim of the Snap in 2018 and was resurrected at the same age of 38 years old in 2023. At the time of writing, it’s believed that Star-Lord is around 41 years old.

Gamora’s age in the MCU

It’s unknown exactly when Gamora Zen Whoberi Ben Titan was born, but it’s mostly believed she was 25 years old when she made her debut. While there’s still debate regarding how old the original Gamora is, most fans believe she didn’t live to see the age of 30.

That being said, some believe her birthday was between late 1979 and early 1980, which would add nearly a decade to her estimated age. This would have made Gamora 34 or 35 years old during Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and 38 or 39 years old when she was killed by Thanos in May 2018.

Rocket Raccoon’s age in the MCU

Rocket Raccoon’s exact date of birth and age have not been confirmed within the MCU, and it’s known that he ages differently due to being genetically modified. However, it’s believed that he could be in his mid-30s.

Nebula’s age in the MCU

There is no solid evidence to show when Nebula was born or how old she is in the MCU, but it’s assumed that she is younger than Gamora. Since Gamroa’s age is not set in stone either, it’s believed that Nebula could have made her debut in her early 20s and aged accordingly.

Drax’s age in the MCU

Drax’s official date of birth has not been confirmed, and there’s still debate regarding Drax’s true age within the MCU. Some believe that Drax is in his 50s, while others believe that he could be far older than an ordinary human due to his species.

Groot’s age in the MCU

There is no evidence to show the exact age of the original Groot, but the new Groot was born in August 2014 following the death of the original. This would make the current Groot a newborn (Baby Groot) during Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and around 11 years old as of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Mantis’ age in the MCU

There is no confirmation on how old Mantis is in the MCU, although fans believe that she could be older than Star-Lord, meaning she would have been in her mid to late 30s when she made her debut. Mantis was a victim of the Snap and was resurrected in 2023, meaning she would currently be 5 years younger than expected.

Doctor Strange’s age in the MCU

It’s believed that Stephen Vincent Strange was in his early 30s when he was a renowned neurosurgeon, after which he lost the ability to continue his practice. In this light, Doctor Strange would have spent around a year gaining his magical abilities at Kamar-Taj.

Doctor Strange has seen many deaths within the MCU, many of which took place in early 2017 via a time loop with Dormammu. He was also a victim of the Snap and was resurrected in 2023, making him 5 years younger than expected. Still, it’s believed that Doctor Strange is currently in his late 30s.

Scarlet Witch’s age in the MCU

Wanda Maximoff was born in 1989, along with her twin brother. While the two started by going up against the Avengers, she would eventually become one of their allies – in fact, one of the most powerful Avengers members to date.

Her brother was killed at the hands of Ultron when they were both 26 years old, and she went on to start crime-fighting alongside others – as well as her true love, Vision. She was a victim of the Snap at the age of 29 years old and was resurrected at the same age in Avengers: Endgame in 2023.

She would have aged to approximately 30 years old in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, all while struggling to cope with the loss of those closest to her. Although she takes on the identity of the dark and all-powerful Scarlet Witch, she still comes around in the end before seemingly sacrificing herself for the greater good in November 2024.

Vision’s age in the MCU

Vision was created in 2015, and he only survived for three years before his tragic death in 2018. Although Vision doesn’t get much screen time within the MCU, he is seen as an extremely influential character as his death sparked a whirlwind of events later down the line.

Ant-Man’s age in the MCU

Scott Edward Harris Lang is believed to have aged from around 30 years old to his early 50s throughout the entire MCU timeline. That being said, no official date of birth has been released for Ant-Man in the MCU.

Captain Marvel’s age in the MCU

Carol Susan Jane Danvers was born in 1965, initially joining the Air Force when she was 18 years old. Carol Danvers died in 1989 before receiving a Kree blood transfusion from Yon-Rogg, enabling her to live for much longer than any human could – in addition to gaining a ton of cool abilities.

She was enlisted by the Kree and served the Starforce unit commanded by Yon-Rogg for around six years, but her age remains hard to follow – primarily since the laws of time are different when she’s not on Earth. It’s believed that she was only in her early 20s when she returned to Earth in 1989.

Captain Marvel also spent around 23 years journeying through the universe before hearing of the Snap. It’s believed that she was around 58 years old by the time she returned to Earth to help the Avengers take down Thanos, and would have aged to 61 “Earth” years off-screen.

Shang-Chi’s age in the MCU

Xu Shang-Chi was born in China sometime in 1999. This means that he would have been 25 years old when he took center stage in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which took place in 2024 within the MCU universe.

Black Panther’s age in the MCU

T’Challa was born sometime in the early 1980s, meaning that his exact age could range by a few years. He was a victim of the Snap and was resurrected in 2023, 5 years younger than he would have been.

Black Panther saw his official death in May 2024 due to an unspecified heart illness, which was detailed by Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Based on his date of birth, Black Panther could have lived to around 40 years old.

Nick Fury’s age in the MCU

Nicholas Joseph Fury was born in 1950, making him 68 years old in Avengers: Infinity War. He was one of the Snap’s victims, being resurrected in 2023 at the same age – although, he would have been around 73 years old if it weren’t for Thanos. It’s believed that Nick Fury would have aged to around 70 years old off-screen within the MCU timeline.

What do we know about the MCU characters’ heights & weights?

The exact heights and weights have not been recorded for each of the main MCU characters. Generally speaking, each MCU character’s height is at least the height of the actor or actress taking on the role, but adaptations are often made with each character’s costume design as well as through computerized effects.

Some examples include Loki who wears heeled shoes, Tony Stark who wears footwear with lifts inside of them (while Pepper Potts is often barefoot to make him appear taller), or Gamora who wears high-heeled boots to gain more height on-screen. As a result, the heights below have been calculated based on the known height of each actor or actress, reports of adaptations to costumes, comparisons, as well as statements from figures within MCU titles.

That’s everything there is to know about the main MCU characters’ ages, birthdays, heights, weights, and more, with stats thanks to Marvel and the Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki. While it can be challenging to follow each character’s exact age within the MCU timeline specifically, it seems that they all still age parallel to each other – apart from cases where the laws of time are altered.
