Despite not being connected to the larger Arrowverse, ‘Superman & Lois’ is easily the best CW superhero show in terms of quality writing. The show did have its ups and downs, especially last year. After Nexstar acquired CW and the network was bound to be restructured, ‘Superman & Lois’ survived the onslaught during which many shows were canceled. A few days before the finale of season 3 was supposed to air, the news came that the show would continue under the new leadership, but some budget cuts will be made.
The show’s fourth season will be significantly shorter than usual, with only ten episodes. A few days ago, it was announced that the show will also continue with fewer writers and a supporting cast. Only four of the 12 Season 3 series regulars, Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Michael Bishop, and Alex Garfin, are coming back, and the team of writers was slashed from eight to five, which is a drastic change.
Now, after some time of silence, the lead actress Elizabeth Tulloch shared on X that the production of the show’s final season, season 4, has restarted.
Only half a year after the show received the green light for season 4, it was announced that this would be the show’s final season. The solid and consistent viewership was not enough to justify the high costs associated with CGI. I mean, it was obvious that the further the show went, the less we saw of Clark in suit, especially in action.
The show has only recently introduced Lex Luthor, or at least its own take on him, and was setting him up to be the big bad guy of season 4. The finale episode of season 3 also featured a magnificent fight against Doomsday, partially adapting the famous “The Death of Superman.” Storyline.
The show is not coming back for season 5, but we’re still excited to see where the rest of the ride takes us. ‘Superman & Lois’ Season 4 is expected to start airing sometime in 2024.
