Following the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ DCEU is officially over and Gunn’s DCU is ready to take over the reins as the next big cinematic universe featuring DC’s characters. ‘Creature Commandos’ is the first project to be released as a part of DCU, but both Gunn and Safran confirmed that the true beginning is ‘Superman: Legacy.’
Gunn frequently reveals information regarding the development of his so-far favorite projects. He often clears up some details regarding the production of the movie. He cleared up that the development so far is going “swimmingly” as sets are being built, costumes are finished, and actors are adjusting to their roles. One fan took the opportunity to ask Gunn how much the cast he has locked in for ‘Legacy,’ and Gunn was vague in answering but confirmed that it’s more than 90 % but less than 100%, meaning that not all characters have actors attached to them, which will consequently start more rumors.
Now despite Gunn often giving vague information regarding the movie’s development he was being rather straightforward in revealing the composer for the next chapter in Superman’s live-action history.
Gunn shared on his Instagram account that John Murphy is set to be the composer of ‘Superman: Legacy’ according to him John was one of the first persons he called as the music is set to be an important part of the upcoming movie.
John was one of the first people I called when I finished the script many months ago as I knew how incredibly important the score was to this production. John has been working tirelessly since, creating hours worth of music that we’ll play on set as we shoot & use in the edit & that will eventually be recorded with a glorious symphony for all of you. Welcome to the DCU, John!
Murphy and Gunn often collaborate on various projects, most recently Murphy worked on ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.’ Murphy achieved acclaim in the film industry through collaborations with directors such as Guy Ritchie, Michael Mann, and Matthew Vaughn. His notable works include contributions to films like ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels,’ ‘Miami Vice,’ and ‘Kick-Ass,’ as well as scoring for Danny Boyle’s films. Two of his instrumental tracks, ‘In the House – In a Heartbeat’ from ’28 Days Later’ and ‘Adagio in D Minor’ from ‘Sunshine,’ have been widely featured in TV shows, commercials, and film trailers.
