‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ has been in the making for a long time, but this week plenty of announcements have been made with the show’s first public trailer being released. Little is known about the plot of the show, but most fans are excited by the fact that ‘The Acolyte’ will be taking place during the High Republic Era, something previously unseen in live action.

Despite the unique setting, ‘The Acolyte’ is the second show overall that takes place during that time frame, the first being ‘Young Jedi Adventures’ that recently ended its run. Now Headland revealed the details regarding the exact placement in the Star Wars overall timeline:

I was so interested in a storyline where the Jedi were at the height of their power — and I don’t mean The Phantom Menace, because at that point, there’s a Sith Lord in the Senate that they’re not picking up on.

The show officially takes place during the latter portion of the High Republic Era 100 years before the events of ‘Episode I: The Phantom Menace’ and it’s one part of the Star Wars greater timeline that hasn’t been discussed all that much on-screen. This was known as the Golden Age of the Jedi because the institution was at the height of its power. Something that Headland also touched upon:

If Star Wars is about the underdog versus the institution, [in The Acolyte] the Jedi are the institution

The show will feature a lot of nods to High Republic books, notably one character from the show Vernestra Rwoh is directly from the books. In the books, Vernestra Rwoh, a Mirialan female Jedi Master, became a Jedi Knight at fifteen, the youngest in a long time, under the tutelage of Jedi Master Stellan Gios. Known for her leadership and dedication, Rwoh faced various challenges, including encounters with the Nihil pirate organization. Despite witnessing the destruction of Starlight Beacon and the loss of her former master, she remained committed to the Jedi ideals. Eventually, Rwoh became a Wayseeker, guided by the will of the Force, and embarked on a journey to find her missing Padawan, Imri Cantaros.

The show will feature a much older version of Rwoh since the books specifically deal with the earlier portion of the High Republic. We’re really excited to finally see this era of Jedi on-screen. What about you? Let us know in the comments below!
