One of the most exciting upcoming MCU projects is ‘Thunderbolts.’ Production was slated to kick off in Summer 2023, and the cast was expected to include actors already associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Marvel Studios making efforts to ensure their availability.

Then, the SAG-AFTRA strike happened and paralyzed the industry for more than 3 months and stalled the progress of the movie. Little is known about the overall plot, except that it will see a group of antiheroes as they go on various missions for the government. Now, that ‘Thunderbolts’ is scheduled to shoot officially casting call might reveal more about the plot elements that are going to be used.

According to the social media chatter, Central Casting Georgia is looking for a photo double to portray a 14-year-old white girl with brown hair, possibly indicating that the studio is looking for a “younger” version of Antonia Dreykov, which means that we are most likely going to see flashbacks in the movie. The news was first shared by Thunderbolt updates on X.

Olga Kurylenko will return as Antonia Dreykov, also known as Taskmaster. Taskmaster possesses photographic reflexes, enabling her to mimic opponents’ fighting styles. Initially controlled by her father, Dreykov, for missions in the Red Room, she was liberated by Black Widow.

The movie was supposed to start shooting in March or April of this year, and according to rumors it has already started, with Sebastian Stan’s absence allegedly being noted on the set, but currently, this doesn’t have to mean anything. ‘Thunderbolts’ didn’t have easy development so far, being marked by the SAG-AFTRA strike, and then months before the movie was supposed to shoot Steven Yeun gave up on his role of Sentry, forcing the studio to recast him with Lewis Pullman being the top choice to replace him with the rumors soon confirmed by the studio.

Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their roles as Bill Foster and Melina Vostokoff in the MCU. Geraldine Viswanathan joined the cast as de Fontaine’s assistant after a schedule delay led to the departure of another actor. The film’s release date was moved to May 2, 2025, swapping with The Fantastic Four. Joanna Calo was tasked with rewriting the script, with earlier drafts focusing on the team’s mission, potentially resulting in their deaths.
