‘Captain America: Brave New World’ is one of the most anticipated MCU projects. Like plenty of other movies & shows, the development was put back on track following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Everybody expected that the movie would be at least somewhat delayed. Initially ‘Captain America 4’ switched dates with ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ until being delayed for almost a year, now bound to be released on February 15, 2025.
It was only later that we’ve found out that the movie was undergoing significant reshoots and rewrites due to the bad results the initial test screening got from the audiences.
Now atlanta_filming, paparazzi/leaker account has posted on Instagram an image of a baseball cap with the number 4 on it with a caption: “This starts May 26th. Don’t ask… just think about it.“
The image is obviously a reference to ‘Captain America 4’ (Cap 4) and if the account is correct the filming will resume on May 26, 2024, something that coincides with other unofficial sources.
A few weeks ago we covered rumors on what potentially went wrong with the original test screening. Apparently, the audiences were completely unimpressed with action scenes which were subpar when compared to previous ‘Captain America’ movies. There’s also Mackie’s issue with his co-lead/love interest, apparently, the two have a lack of chemistry. The political context of the movie was boring and uninspiring.
Marvel Studios has hired Matthew Orton to work as a screenwriter on reshoots, if those reshoots go well we can most likely expect the movie to respect the February 2025 release date.
Not much is known about the overall plot of the movie, a brief synopsis that was leaked by the Copyright Office only presented us with “Sam Wilson is the man with a plan.”
