Several weeks ago, the trailer for the highly-anticipated ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released and we’ve gotten a look at the setting and the characters. Little is known about the plot of the show, but most fans are excited by the fact that ‘The Acolyte’ will be taking place during the High Republic Era, something previously unseen in live action.

Second only to the setting, the most interesting thing about the show are certainly its characters, Headland herself admitted that some characters are original and some, like Vernerstra Rwoh were taken straight from the books.

In her recent interview with Empire, the creator of the show Leslye Headland discussed one particularly exciting character, Jedi Master Indara. Indara will be played by Carrie Anne-Moss in the upcoming show, and we can’t deny that the actress is most famously known as Trinity from ‘The Matrix’ franchise. Unsurprisingly, Headland revealed that this was the inspiration behind Indara in ‘Acolyte’ as well.

She is very much inspired by Trinity. If it means Star Wars fans see Indara as ‘Trinity with a lightsaber’, that’s the intended effect. I personally wanted to see someone who had the highest status you could imagine in a Force-fu fight – somebody that would come in and you immediately would be like, ‘Oh, that’s the most powerful Jedi in the room.’ And that’s Trinity.

Moss also explained that she was beyond elated to take this role.

Within my soul and my spirit, to get to play this Jedi Master and train for the fight was [an] amazing experience. A part of me forgot how much I love action. I love it. It’s hard. But I was just really thrilled that I could do it, and I wanted to do it well. ‘Gimme another take! Gimme another take! Whatever dark side force is rising in The Acolyte: dodge this.

Empire also provided us with a first look at the Jedi Master.

The show is set to consist of 8 episodes, premiering on Disney+ on June 4th. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
