We know that ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was stuck in a development hell for quite some time. The movie was supposed to be released this year but after early test screenings proved to have overwhelmingly negative feedback, the flick was scheduled for a massive round of reshoots.

This delayed it for close to a year, now it’s set to be released on February 15, 2025. The latest footage from CinemaCon showcased some plot points. The clip reveals Sam Wilson meeting President Thunderbolt Ross at the White House, where Ross proposes reuniting the Avengers under a new Captain America. However, there are hints of Ross having ulterior motives. Chaos erupts during a meeting when a mysterious villain takes control, leading to action-packed scenes including Sam defending himself against Secret Service agents. Sam and Joaquín Torres team up in action sequences, culminating in a tense confrontation between Sam and Ross. Sam acknowledges he’s not Steve Rogers before donning the new silver and blue Captain America suit.

We’ve already mentioned how test audiences really didn’t like the movie the first time around and apparently, whatever they did to the movie didn’t really improve much at all. On the latest episode of ‘Hot Mic’ podcast Jeff Sneider shared what the early world on some upcoming productions was. ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ generally received positive feedback while feedback for ‘Captain America 4’ was “not as kind.”

As a reminder, the reasons why ‘Brave New World’ underwent massive reshoots were never exactly stated officially, but no one also went to great lengths to debunk them. According to reports, the action in the fourth movie in the series was underwhelming when compared to previous ‘Captain America’ movies, but this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Apparently, Mackie’s chemistry with his love interest was lacking in several aspects and the political message of the movie wasn’t divisive or anything, but it was boring, something that audiences cannot forgive.

Marvel Studios has hired Matthew Orton to work as a screenwriter on reshoots, and one more round is scheduled for spring-summer of 2024.
