At this point, everyone knows that MCU has hit sort of a rough patch, with 2023 being disastrous for Marvel Studios and Disney finding itself on the infamous list of the biggest box-office losers.
This is why Iger announced that they will be significantly reducing the output in the future, focusing on 2-3 movies a year and two shows.
Now 16 years in, MCU has 5 phases in total, with Phase 4 being lauded as the absolute worst. This is fair this is where they truly started to pump out content without really thinking about the stories or taking care of their introduced characters. Phase 3, is lauded as the best one yet, and this is what recent Rotten Tomatoes data proved.
Rotten Tomatoes’ “Best 300 Movies of All Time” highlights Phase 3 as the most popular era of the MCU. Throughout the 33 movies as of Phase 5, reception has varied widely among fans and critics. Each phase has seen both critical and commercial successes, such as ‘Iron Man,’ ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier, ‘and ‘Avengers: Infinity War,’ alongside disappointments like ‘The Incredible Hulk,’ ‘Thor: The Dark World,’ and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp.’
The list is based on the combination of Tomatometer ratings and Audience Scores. The list contains surprises and sheds light on the MCU’s Infinity and Multiverse Sagas. It reaffirms what we already knew about these eras while offering optimism for the franchise’s future.
Rotten Tomatoes ranks MCU movies based on their Tomatometer scores:
- “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021) from Phase 4 ranks 128th with a score of 93%.
- “Avengers: Endgame” (2019) from Phase 3 ranks 142nd with a score of 94%.
