‘The Acolyte’ is an upcoming television series set in the Star Wars universe, created by Leslye Headland. It takes place at the end of the High Republic era, before the events of the main Star Wars films. Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae are starring in the leading roles. Headland’s interest in the Star Wars franchise began in 2019, and she started developing the series for Lucasfilm in April 2020.

The title was announced in December, and filming took place from October 2022 to June 2023. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 4, 2024. Now we’re only a few weeks away from the show being released, and the reactions on social media to the show are, mixed, to say the least.

Some of the creator’s statements, as well as what was shown through trailers, clips, and set photos didn’t exactly make fans excited over the show. While some fans are calling for people to judge after they watched the first two episodes, plenty of fans are calling for boycott altogether, seeing this show as another sign that Disney and by extension, LucasFilm have gone completely woke.

So where does Jimmy Kimmel fit in here? Well popular comedian did not miss the opportunity to preview the show, and roast it at the same time. During Disney Uprfont, the comedian took the opportunity to mock the setting of the show. Even though the team behind ‘The Acolyte’ is using the High Republic ear as the high-point of the entire show and it’s main selling point, it seems that not everybody are excited for it.

We’ve got the most highly anticipated shows with ‘The Acolyte,’ about a Jedi investigating crimes. he show is set during the High Republic era of the Star Wars timeline, which means it takes place before the ‘Phantom Menace’ and after I stopped giving a shit.

We’re sure that Kimmel had nothing by lighthearted joke in mind when he delivered this line, but it’s unfortunate that so many fans on social media agree with him.

‘The Acolyte’ is set to debut on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, with its initial two episodes. Following this premiere, the remaining six episodes will be released weekly thereafter. Have something to add? Let us know in the comments below!
