Recently, the trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, and it promised a lot of action, something that the creator herself, Leslye Headland promised in her many appearances across the media.
But the trailer also revealed something far more shocking, in the form of a accidentally included subtitle.
At the 0:20 mark, Amandla Stenberg, confirmed to portray Mae, the former padawan of Lee Jung-jae’s Master Sol, is heard saying, “I didn’t do it.” However, the subtitle mistakenly credited the character speaking as “Osha,” not Mae.
So, what’s the big deal with this subtitle? If you’ve been following ‘Acolyte’ so far you will know that one of the biggest mysteries in the show will actually revolve around the fact that somebody is killing Jedi, hunting them down, and eliminating them.
The presence of ‘The Acolyte’ was also teased in the trailers, a dark force user who will presumably be responsible for it. The fans were long speculating that Mae, a character that was teased to be that “dark force user” actually has a twin sister, Osha who will presumably still be training under the tutelage of Jedi Master Sol.
In the latest interview with Jake’s Takes, ‘The Acolyte’ star Amandla Stenberg seemingly confirms the existence of that twin. During the interview, the star was asked in which scene from prior Star Wars projects would she like to see her character.
I would just have Osha in the background when Obi-Wan Kenobi is yelling at Anakin saying “you are the chosen one” and Osha would be in the background, like “oh no”.
This is pretty much a direct confirmation that Osha, Mae’s twin exists in the show. The posters and other similar marketing materials usually featured Stenberg twice, so the theory that one of the twins will be a “Sith” and the other simply a force user that is not aligned with the Jedi order has been proven true.
The existence of the twin was confirmed in the last answer in the interview, during which the interviewer asked about specific things that actors didn’t get to do on the set but would very much like to experience. Manny Jacinto answered “Playing the twins” as he looked toward Stenberg.
I mean for me, taking on the challenge of playing twins. […] That’s like an actor’s, like dream role, to be able to take on that challenge. I mean, then again I see this now, probably won’t say that a month in, into doing the work. […] Just seeing [Stenberg] do it, made me wanna take up that challenge.
