MCU has had it’s up and downs in the last couple of years, but despite that, it’s still the most successful franchise of all times. What started out as a single movie released in 2008 over the course of 16 years grew into the largest cinematic universe to date which includes both live-action movies, and TV Shows.

Despite this impressive track record, it’s become sort of a trend among high-profile directors to criticize the MCU and superhero movies in general. Some of the biggest names in the industry like Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and Francis Ford Coppola mocked the premises and the executions, lauding that superhero movies are no true cinema.

5 years, ago Martin Scorsese one of the most critically acclaimed directors of all time decided to fire a couple of shots at the genre, saying that he didn’t see them as cinema.

I don’t see them. I tried, you know? But that’s not cinema. Honestly, the closest I can think of them, as well-made as they are, with actors doing the best they can under the circumstances, is theme parks. It isn’t the cinema of human beings trying to convey emotional, and psychological experiences to another human being.

Now the quote is nowadays more relevant than ever, George Lucas and Chris Hemsworth in recent times tried to prove Scorsese wrong, and now, Beau DeMayo the head writer of highly critically acclaimed ‘X-Men ’97’ chimed into the debate.

In this scene, Henry Cavill’s Clark Kent dons the Superman suit for the first time, which he has just acquired from an abandoned Kryptonian ship. Despite initially stumbling and falling during his attempts to fly, he is inspired by a hopeful message from his father, Jor-El (played by Russell Crowe), encouraging him to persist. Hans Zimmer’s powerful score enhances the scene, making it an exceptionally thrilling cinematic moment.

Even though ‘Man of Steel’ received mixed reviews overall, nobody can doubt that the movie indeed is cinema.
