MCU’s ‘Blade’ Director Exits the Production Weeks After Reported Troubles With the Movie: “Mahershala Ali Most Is Most Likely Next”

One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an MCU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today. 

It would be hard to summarize all the problems that ‘Blade’ had so far, the main star of the movie Mahershala Ali approached the studio with the pitch a long time ago and was officially announced as Blade in 2018. Since then, it’s been a constant cycle of script problems and the movie changed several writers over the course of development.

Less than two weeks ago we reported how key players are not happy with the script and state of the movie so far. To make matters worse Mahershala Ali is currently in talks with Universal to join the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise. Fans have speculated that Mahershala will walk first, citing “scheduling issues.”

However, we are (not) surprised to report that the director walked away first. ‘The Wrap’ reported that Yann Demange is no longer working on the movie. ‘Lovecraft Country’ director has walked away from the project and the insider claims that the “break” was amicable.

Demange did not talk about the movie often, last we’ve heard from him is that he is excited and happy regarding the current state of the movie, and how it’s extremely important for ‘Blade’ to keep its “R” rating. That was more than half a year ago, and clearly, things have changed massively since then.

Reportedly, Ali already almost walked away from the project a few times, and after a series of changed writers, many speculate that he is in fact the problem holding the production down. I guess you can imagine that academy-award winner wouldn’t be happy with whatever half-baked script Marvel writers are serving these days.

The script was originally supposed to include Blade’s daughter according to reports, who would over the course of the movie be its main character with Blade, the titular character, taking a backseat. Recent reports suggested that the movie will focus on Blade just killing vampires, and Ebony Blade was confirmed to make an appearance in the film.

Recently, several reports resurfaced that point into the direction of the ‘Midnight Sons’ movie being in development. The ‘Blade’ reboot was allegedly supposed to lead into that movie, but I guess we can prepare for the very real possibility that the ‘Blade’ reboot will never see the light of the day.
