One extremely anticipated Marvel Studios project that had problems way before the strikes began is ‘Blade.’ It is an MCU-based movie following Eric Brooks, the most notable vampire hunter in comics, and a reboot of the already highly popular ‘Blade’ trilogy that contributed to paving the way for the MCU that we know today.

It would be hard to summarize all the problems that ‘Blade’ had so far, the main star of the movie Mahershala Ali approached the studio with the pitch a long time ago and was officially announced as Blade in 2018. Since then, it’s been a constant cycle of script problems and the movie changed several writers over the course of development.

Recently, the movie lost its director as Yann Demange left the development. The official reason for this separation was not given, and the break was supposedly “amicable.” Later, industry insiders reported that Demange left back in March and that Mahershala Ali found the director to be difficult to work with.

The rumors are now spreading that Ali is ready to depart the project as well, with his own attorney citing that it’s crazy that the movie hasn’t been shot yet despite six years of development and planning. Recently, Ali was rumored to take a role in the ‘Jurassic World’ franchise and fans were expecting an announcement that he would withdraw from the project due to “scheduling” issues.

Wesley Snipes, former Blade actor who portrayed the character in the original trilogy now used this opportunity to comment on this mess of development through an X status that seemingly pokes fun at the MCU’s reboot.

Back when ‘Blade’ reboot was first announced fans were hoping that perhaps Snipes would return to reprise his role, however, the actor was considered to be “too old” for the role back then, and the situation was even worse now. There are also rumors, allegations, and some confirmed problems with the actor’s behavior from the past, something that the studio doesn’t want to be associated with in my opinion.

Recently, rumors appeared that Snipes would reprise his role but as a variant, something that the actor himself seemingly debunked on X. I’m certain that this situation with the reboot is highly entertaining for Snipes, and if the movie never sees the light of the day he can sleep calming known that he is still one of the most iconic superheroes that at one point, saved the Marvel from going bankrupt.
