Benedict Cumberbatch Confirms Filming for ‘Avengers 5’ Next Year, Dr. Strange to Return

In the MCU, the Avengers series is the most important and successful, with four movies so far. These films are the highlights of the MCU and the favorites among fans. While many heroes have their own series, the Avengers remain the main focus. Fans are eagerly waiting for news on the next Avengers movie, currently called Avengers 5. There have been some rumors, and now one of the actors from the upcoming movie has shared some exciting information.

While promoting his latest project, Eric, on Netflix, Benedict Cumberbatch discussed his most famous roles in a video. Starting with Sherlock Holmes from 2010, which launched his career, he also talked about Doctor Strange and revealed some interesting news about his future in the MCU.

“This guy, segue. Yeah, Dr. Sparks. Yeah, I know this is Dr. Strange. He’s a Marvel character. And, well, I’ll be really honest about it. The joy of playing him is immense, but also the joy of playing him means I can help create and platform stories and writing and less commercial fare into being. So he’s a gift in many, many ways in my life as a producer, as an actor. I love playing him. He’s great fun.

Oh, why did I start? I don’t know. I mean, I was going to play him and then I couldn’t because I’d already booked Hamlet and that was happening and then they drifted away and then they drifted very quickly back to me, which is nice and they shifted the whole kind of factory line to my schedule and it’s been a pretty lovely relationship with that company ever since. I’m very much looking forward to Avengers next year. It’s cooking up a storm.”

As you can see, Benedict confirmed two key things. First, Avengers 5 is set to start filming in 2025, so it will likely be released in late 2025 or 2026, which isn’t too far away since we’re already in 2024. Second, he confirmed that Doctor Strange will return in Avengers 5, as he’s excited to start filming next year. This is exciting news for fans!
