It’s no secret that the release of ‘The Acolyte’ caused quite a stir in the community. It’s partially due to the show being perceived as “woke” (not that many arguments for that) and partially due to the show being, not as good as we expected (plenty of arguments supporting this.)

We have access to some numbers related to streaming, and if you’re going by Luminate data the show has been losing viewers for 3 weeks now. If you’re going by Reelgood’s numbers the show is the second most popular in the franchise.

Rely on Rotten Tomatoes data to draw some conclusions, and you’re going to see that ‘The Acolyte’ currently holds a 14 % score, the lowest in the franchise, based on over 25,000 reviews (the highest number in the franchise overall).

The latest Nielsen numbers, show a bit more reasonable perspective, according to the highly reliable source of viewership analytics, ‘The Acolyte’ is near the bottom of the viewership when it comes to all live-action shows. The show has a viewership lower than any other Star Wars show except for ‘Andor.’ ‘Andor’ is, however, far praised to be the best live-action Star Wars show yet…so read into this data however you want.

The Mandalorian Season 21,032 million
The Mandalorian season 3823 million
Obi-Wan Kenobi513 million
Ahsoka414.5 million
The Book of Boba Fett389 million
The Acolyte244 million
Andor208 million

But, if only a few people are watching the show as this number suggests, at least when compared to shows like ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ and ‘The Mandalorian,’ how is it possible that the show has a staggering number of reviews on Rotten Tomatoes?

Well, it’s kind of obvious, in its analysis, Screenrant came to a conclusion (on a small sample) that a large number of those reviews are AI-generated, meaning they are bogus, and shouldn’t be taken into consideration.

Second, the show has more reviews than all seasons of ‘The Mandalorian’ combined; wouldn’t that suggest that it has more viewers than all seasons of ‘The Mandalorian.’

‘The Acolyte’ is far from being the best Star Wars show, and there are definitely some glaring problems with it, but let’s save our criticism for legit reasons, we don’t need to manufacture outrage, especially since Nielsen numbers indeed show that ‘The Acolyte’ is in large part performing poorly when it comes to audiences.

However keep in mind that even those numbers are not a real indication of quality, look at ‘Andor’s’ numbers, and the show is brilliant and secured a second season as well.
