The final episode of ‘The Acolyte’ presented us with two massive cameos – that of Darth Plagueis and the Grandmaster of the Jedi order, Yoda. Apparently, Headland needed to fight pretty hard to include the character in the show, due to potential other projects that Yoda might appear in and character reputation.

Now since all the storylines of ‘The Acolyte’ Season 1 have been neatly wrapped up, these two cameos set up solid groundwork for season 2 of the show, if it comes to it. This is something that Headland confirmed.

In her interview with Entertainment Weekly Headland revealed that both cameos were placed intentionally and that they definitely tease more to come:

I think it sets up future storylines that could be really compelling.

The creator of the show also teased that Yoda might help Vernestra Rwoh cover up the incident with her Jedi Padawan going rogue, which would explain why Jedi were completely unaware of the existence of Sith 100 years later during the events of ‘The Phantom Menace.’ She also admitted that the Plagueis and Yoda are meant to balance each other out.

If you were going to introduce Plagueis, then you needed a formidable other side of that. As somebody that knows who Plagueis is and knows where the lineage of the Sith is headed, it would be imbalanced if you didn’t have somebody on the light side who carried as much gravitas. So, to me it just made sense.

Headland already discussed that there are conversations regarding season 2, although it’s too early to make a decision whether the show will in fact continue. She urged her fans to share positive reviews online and for any newcomers to the franchise to ignore the IMDb rating. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
