Brie Larson Teases Her Return to the MCU, Plays Secretive Regarding Her Role in Future ‘Avengers’ Movies

The third movie released as a part of MCU’s Phase 5 was ‘The Marvels.’ The movie was an eye-watering box-office loss and prompted numerous changes within the MCU. The second installment of ‘Captain Marvel’ franchise was notoriously slammed by both critics and fans despite staring not one but three important characters for the future of the MCU.

Despite being an overall “bad” movie, ‘The Marvels’ did tease some important things for the future, Monica Rambeau is now stuck in a different reality, one that is seemingly populated by mutants. Kamala Khan has started her Young Avengers initiative.

The only character whose future wasn’t teased in the movie was Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel, although he did promise to do everything in her power to get Monica back. In the past, Larson stated that there are more stories to tell regarding Captain Marvel, but the most recent rumors claim that ‘Captain Marvel 3’ is no longer happening.

Now speaking to The Playlist’s Bingeworthy podcast, the actress reacted to the most recent SDCC news related to ‘The Avengers’ franchise and the fact that Robert Downey Jr. is back in the MCU – this time as Doctor Doom. The actress was as surprised as we were, claiming that she had no idea that something like this would be revealed despite speaking to Feige prior to the announcements:

I want to be clear. I was just with Kevin [Feige]. It was like that same day, and he was like, ‘Oh yeah, we’re doing a thing at Comic-Con.’ He did not say that at all! Not at all!

Larson also revealed a bit more regarding her own future, and the future of Marvels in the MCU:

I just loved being with those ladies so much, and I think that the sentiment of it is so right to me and is much more where I’m at in my life, which is, there’s no one superhero that can save us. It takes all kinds of people that have their own special skill sets and the ability to understand that the brink of disaster cannot be stopped by one. It’s all of us coming together. So that feels really right to me. And you know, as for the future, there’s things that I know, but I can’t tell you.

When it comes to her potential role in ‘Avengers’ installments, Larson admitted that there’s no right answer to that question and she quite literally won’t tell anything since no matter how she plays that off, it’s bound to be interpreted in the wrong way:

I can’t say anything and I can’t even say that I don’t know anything because that might mean that there’s something to say or not say. So I’ll just say that I can’t say.

No matter what Larson says, she is one of the most popular characters in the MCU and one of the most powerful ones, it’s likely that she will be back in both projects at least to act as a powerhouse for the heroes.
