Disney’s latest Star Wars project, The Acolyte, recently concluded, and despite controversies and review-bombing, it became one of the most talked-about shows online. Even now, after the first season has ended, fans are actively discussing the series and various theories about its characters, proving its enduring popularity, whether people love it or hate it.
While the series had its ups and downs, even critics can’t deny that it featured some very interesting moments, especially with its references to other Star Wars storylines. We’ve already discussed Darth Plagueis, but we must also highlight a significant and intriguing Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) reference from the series.
In the final episode of the series, there’s a fascinating moment where Qimit and Osha erase Mae’s memories. Many fans have identified this scene as a nod to what is widely regarded as the best Star Wars game ever made and one of the greatest Star Wars stories of all time.
If you’re not fully familiar with the final episode of The Acolyte, it featured numerous twists and turns. One of the most poignant moments was when Qimir and Osha, who had turned to the Dark Side, erased Mae’s memories. This was done voluntarily to prevent the Jedi from discovering the Sith plans through Mae.
While this event is significant on its own, it also echoes a famous storyline from Knights of the Old Republic, one of the best narratives in the Star Wars franchise. In Knights of the Old Republic, we follow Revan’s journey, which can lead to him becoming either a Sith or a Jedi. The game has been consistently praised for its storytelling and Revan’s character development.
One of the major twists in the game reveals that Revan was once a powerful Sith Lord, Darth Revan, whose memories were wiped by the Jedi. The game even hints that he was brainwashed by the Force to become a Jedi again. This memory-wiping moment is quite intriguing, and while it’s unclear if The Acolyte intentionally referenced Knights of the Old Republic, the similarity adds an interesting layer to the controversial series.
