Jonathan Majors Would Love To Return to the MCU as Kang & Has One Major Regret

Jonathan Majors in the role of Kang the Conqueror was supposed to be the next big thing in the MCU, inheriting the mantle of the main villain from Brolin’s Thanos. He first appeared as He Who Remains in ‘Loki’ season 1 and people loved the character and his portrayal.

Majors was brought in for two additional projects, ‘Loki’ Season 2 (as He Who Remains & Victor Timely) and ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.’

It was the release of ‘Quantumania’ that marked the beginning of the end of Jonathan Majors, following the release of the movie he was arrested under an allegation of physical assault on a woman he knew and was rumored to be his girlfriend – Grace Jabbari. Immediately he was laid off from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring the actor were pulled.

He wasn’t fired from Disney officially, however, and ‘Loki’ season 2 was released, everything hung on the legal verdict. That verdict came in December 2023 and Majors was fired from Disney officially – sparking rumors that the character will be cut from the MCU, the studio moving on with a different villain.

These speculations culminated at this year’s SDCC when it was revealed that ‘Avengers: Kangy Dynasty’ has been retitled ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ and will feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.

TMZ recently spoke to Jonathan Majors, who is slowly trying to make a comeback in Hollywood, and the actor stated he would like to get a second chance to play Kang since he loves the character. There’s also significant money and fame involved in playing someone so important in the biggest and most lucrative franchise of all time.

TMZ: It was announced that Robert Downey Jr. was being brought back for Marvel to play Doctor Doom. I mean, looks like he’s replacing your villain, you know Kang. I mean, aren’t you hurt by the new direction that, like, Marvel is going in?

Majors: Yeah, heartbroken.

TMZ: You are?

Majors: Yeah, come on. Yeah, of course. I love him. I love Kang. Doctor Doom is legit though.

The actor has one major regret however, it’s that he didn’t get the same treatment as Robert Downey Jr. and DCEU’s Ezra Miller. Both actors faced numerous legal issues, and weren’t exactly ideal face to plaster all over family-friendly franchise, with Miller’s allegations being truly sickening.

Still, both actors got the chance to redeem himself – with RDJ succeeding, MCU completely revitilizing his career and Miller failing – the DCEU was one step in the grave when ‘The Flash’ was released.

TMZ: Yeah, I mean, both Robert Downey Jr. and Ezra Miller have had like a history of trouble with like, you know, the law, and getting arrested for felonies. I mean you only had a misdemeanor, do you feel like it’s unfair? That you’re like not being given the same opportunities as them?

Majors: I think it’s fair, that, Mr. Downey is being, and has been greeted with patience and curiosity, and love, and that Mr. Miller has gotten the same treatment, and that they’re being allowed to work their art and be creative, at that level. I didn’t really get that, so, you know.

TMZ: Do you wish you had like this same opportunity as them?

Majors: I mean that’s hard. I mean, come on, yeah.

TMZ: Why do you mean that’s a case though? For them?

Majors: Wow! I don’t know. *laughs*

TMZ: Would you want your old role back? Like, your old job back as Kang the Conqueror?

Majors: Kang? Hell yeah. Hell yeah hell yeah. I love him. I love Kang. Love He Who Remains. Love them. If that’s what the fans want if that’s what Marvel wants, hell yeah.
