“I feel like I could do one more”: What Are the Odds of ‘Iron Man 4’ Happening Now that Robert Downey Jr. Is Back?

This year’s SDCC came with some pretty interesting and exciting revelations. The biggest part of the evening definitely included announcements that Robert Downey Jr. is returning to the MCU, this time in the role of Doctor Doom. Kang has been written out as the main villain of Multiverse Saga and ‘Avengers: Kangy Dynasty’ has been retitled ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’

Now that RDJ is back, plenty of fans were hoping that perhaps ‘Iron Man 4’ might happen, but the chances of that happening are nonexistent.

Back before ‘Captain America: Civil War’ was released the actor famously stated: “I feel like I could do one more.”

But a lot has taken place since then and his story was told in several key films: ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming,’ and three additional ‘Avengers’ movies. These appearances collectively led to his heroic death and one of the most important moments in MCU.

As far as we are concerned Iron Man, at least Iron Man of Earth-616 won’t be seen in the MCU anymore Feige himself stated several times that touching his death is out of the question. Theoretically, Iron Man could get a fourth movie through the same means as Black Widow – with a prequel. But there’s a good reason not to go down that path as well.

RDJ’s announcement as Doom was met with somewhat mixed reception, mainly due to fans complaining that they won’t be able to separate the actor from his Iron Man role… those are valid concerns.

Making the fourth Iron Man movie currently when the MCU is trying to establish RDJ as Doom would do a huge disservice to the character.

In any case at this point in time there is no news regarding the potential fourth movie in the franchise, but, as always we will update you if something comes up!
