A cornerstone of modern science fiction, George Lucas’s Star Wars franchise stands as a highly influential and significant work. What began as an ambitious space opera has evolved into one of the most popular and profitable franchises in history. Over the decades, Star Wars has earned the admiration of fans across generations and remains one of the most impressive fictional universes ever created.
However, as previously noted, the Star Wars brand has faced its share of criticism, particularly since Disney acquired Lucasfilm. Despite the criticism, especially directed at Kathleen Kennedy, the franchise continues to achieve substantial commercial success.
This is evident from the significant plans the franchise has for the upcoming D23 fan event next week. Based on the information released so far, fans believe Disney might be hinting at a major revelation that could excite followers of The Acolyte.
As previously reported, there will be three key locations at the event: the Lucasfilm Booth, where fans can immerse themselves in the franchise; the Disney+ Pavilion, featuring everything related to Star Wars and the streaming service; and the Star Wars Darkade, where attendees can test their skills at the first-ever Star Wars villains-themed arcade for a chance to win prizes.
Of particular interest is the event scheduled for Saturday, August 10 at 4:00 p.m. at the Lucasfilm Booth. This session will feature a retrospective on Star Wars: The Acolyte with Manny Jacinto, who will be present to discuss the show. What piques our curiosity even more is the tweet recently posted by Disney:
The intriguing aspect of this tweet is that it refers to Jacinto discussing the “first season” of The Acolyte, which contrasts with the original announcement. If the current season is being labeled as the first, it suggests that Disney might be planning a second season. After all, if it were to be the final season, they likely wouldn’t designate it as the “first.”
Given the impactful cameo of Darth Plagueis, Vernestra Rwoh’s conspiracy, and Osha’s choice to join the Stranger, the future of The Acolyte seems promising. Fans are eager to see the story continue, and while we don’t yet know if Disney and Lucasfilm will officially announce a second season at D23, we expect to receive some updates. Stay tuned for the latest news!
