Henry Cavill Addresses His ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Cameo by Mocking DCEU

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the most recent MCU release, and the movie is turning out to be a major hit, both when it comes to the audiences and the box office results. The movie has seen plenty of Marvel legacy actors reprising their roles and has seen some new additions to the cinematic universe’s lineup, notably, Henry Cavill in the role of the Wolverine variant.

Cavillerine, as Levy claims the variant is called, had a brief appearance in the movie, but the moment still managed to pack a few references in the brief few seconds of screen time.

As you probably know by now, Cavill portrayed Superman in the ill-fated DCEU. His last appearance was teased in ‘Black Adam,’ the movie that was both a critical failure and a box-office money dump. Cavill’s reprisal of the role was ultimately teased as the actor was confirmed to get one more standalone movie, only for the studio to officially bury the DCEU just a few weeks after his announcement that he is returning to the role.

When Deadpool says to Cavillerine that they will treat him better than the guys down the street, he is most likely referring to that whole affair. The actor notably gave up his role of Geralt of Rivia in ‘The Witcher’ production to make some time for ‘Superman’ only to be dropped from the role.

In any case, the actor now looks at the whole situation with good humor. Cavill recently commented on his ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ role with a dig aimed toward ‘Justice League’ development.

To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache.

The reference is aimed toward Henry Cavill’s last appearance in the DCEU before his cameo in the post-credits scene of ‘Black Adam’, in Snyder’s ‘Justice League.’ While filming ‘Mission: Impossible – Fallout’ (2018), Cavill couldn’t shave his mustache due to his role as August Walker, which led to Warner Bros. digitally removing his facial hair during the reshoots for ‘Justice League.’
