Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 wrapped up the original Spider-Man trilogy, though it wasn’t the ideal conclusion many had hoped for. Despite its commercial success, the film was critically panned, leading Sony to reconsider their franchise strategy. The studio had initially planned three more Spider-Man movies and several spin-offs, but the negative reception of Spider-Man 3 prompted a reboot.

Sony subsequently launched The Amazing Spider-Man series, casting Andrew Garfield as the new Spider-Man. Though the reboot came with ambitious plans, the series was ultimately cut short after just two films.

Despite the series being cut short, Andrew Garfield has remained a beloved figure among Spider-Man fans, many of whom still regard his portrayal as the best version of the character. In a recent interview with WIRED, Garfield shared an intriguing detail about his time as Spider-Man.

Andrew Garfield tackles the web’s most searched questions about himself in a recent WIRED video. Topics covered include his reputation for being a nice guy, whether he might reprise his role as Spider-Man, his first film, his skating skills, and if he performs his own stunts.

The video, which was released on WIRED’s YouTube channel, features Garfield responding to various questions about his life and career. It was an engaging watch that provided insights into both his personal and professional experiences. One notable question addressed was whether Garfield performs his own stunts or relies on a stunt double. Here’s what he had to say:

Does Andrew Garfield do his own stunts?

When they allow me. And now that I’m a bit older, and my knees are a bit creaky, it’s a tricky thing. But, yeah. I love it. Especially with the Spider-Man stuff, I loved it. It was probably my favorite part of that. ‘Cause I used to be a gymnast when I was a kid. And it was, like, part of what made me love the character so much. And, yeah, it’s so fun. So fun.
