‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is easily one of the most exciting upcoming MCU movies. The movie is bound to see Marvel’s first family into the MCU along with a plethora of iconic characters connected to the team such as Galactus, Silver Surfer, Franklin Richards, and smaller villains, but despite massive hype being generated, there is that one portion of fandom that’s trying to bury the movie even before it was released.
As you probably know by now, the biggest controversy was generated by the cast list. Fans objected to Silver Surfer being a woman, so the actress Julia Garner got a lot of hate directed her way. Surprisingly, one more cast member who was a target of criticism was Pedro Pascal.
Pedro Pascal was cast as Reed Richards sometime ago, although the news was made public over half a year ago. Fans don’t like Pascal in the role for several reasons, but the main reason is the fact that it seems that the actor is in everything nowadays and most of the fans wanted Krasinski in the role following his cameo in ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.’
The most recent surprising incident that saw the actor criticized is borderline ridiculous. During this year’s SDCC Pedro Pascal and his ‘Fantastic Four’ co-star Vanessa Kirby can be seen standing side-by-side while talking during the panel. At one point Pascal reaches toward Kirby and it looks like they exchange a tender touch or two. The account that posted the moment on X claims that Pascal is suffering from anxiety and that to relieve the anxiety he needs to touch someone.
You can question the validity of those claims since Pascal did not confirm that’s exactly what happened but the actor did state several years back that he struggled with anxiety until he learned to manage it:
Anxiety is something that I’ve lived with since I was a child, so it’s a part of my chemistry. I don’t know what kind of person I’d be without it. It’s something that I manage, but it’s also part of what makes me, me.
I know that I have to put myself in high-stress situations to be happy. I mean, within reason. But there’s a certain level of anxiety that helps me do good work. It helps me be aware of the things I need to be aware of.
In any case, some of the comments to the footage were not supporting at all:
