Despite facing significant criticism and backlash, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power has emerged as a major success for Amazon. As previously reported, the series is returning for a second season, with its eight new episodes set to premiere on August 29, 2024—just days away. The anticipation is high, especially following recent major announcements from the showrunners.

In a recent report, we shared exclusive spoilers about two key characters and their upcoming roles in Season 2, obtained through the Fellowship of Fans fan portal. Among these characters is the Stranger, one of the series’ most intriguing figures.

Adding to that, Daniel Weyman, who portrays the Stranger, has now provided more insights into this mysterious character, whose identity and role in the upcoming season were the focus of a recent report.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Daniel Weyman opened up about the Stranger, discussing the character’s overall impact on the series and what to expect from his role in Season 2 of The Rings of Power. Here’s what he had to say:

“Even though he might not be present in all the scenes in the books, actually, he’s always sort of there because he’s so extraordinary. He’s sort of keeping you company on your journey through the books and I think that’s a great thing about Tom on this journey for The Stranger. His presence is so extraordinary that even when you’re not with him, he’s sort of in your mind because of how he’s interacted with you.”

Rory Kinnear, who is set to portray Tom Bombadil in the series, also shared his thoughts on the character and the show overall:

“And how Tolkien writes him – he’s so open-ended and opaque in some ways that people are able to project so much onto him. I think again, that’s his power, both in terms of a reader’s imagination, but also the potential in the interactions with The Stranger, and his role going through The Rings of Power as well.”
